DESPERATE AFTER DUI BUST KCMO COUNCIL DUDE QUINTON LUCAS RESTARTS MLK RENAME PUSH FOR THE PASEO!!!

He lost his clean-cut image in a recent DUI bust and now he's retreating into advocating for a smallish East Side political bloc who haven't elected a Mayor in a generation.

Take a look:

KCUR: Kansas City's Paseo Is One Step Closer to Becoming Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard

Deets:

"A city council committee unanimously passed a measure to rename Paseo Boulevard after Martin Luther King, Jr. At Wednesday's meeting of the planning, zoning and economic development committee, most of the eight people who spoke supported the name change."

On the BORING BUT IMPORTANT topic of a funding mechanism that would pay for the switcheroo . . .

The city’s development code requires that any street name change have the consent of 75 percent of the abutting property owners. Securing that consent could be a difficult and potentially costly undertaking on the long, heavily residential street.

Lucas’ measure waives the 75 percent provision . . .

Translation . . .

ONCE AGAIN COUNCIL DUDE QUINTON WILL PUSH THE RULES THE LIMIT!!!

Moreover . . .

SADLY, THIS MOVE SIGNAL TO KANSAS CITY VOTERS THAT COUNCIL DUDE LUCAS IS NOW PROPERTY OF THE REVS & 3RD DIST. SPECIAL INTERESTS!!!

Expect more fighting on this one among a Council running for reelection and eager to put this issue to rest before people can hold it against them in April.

Developing . . .

  1. It's a smart move. Get it done and let's move on. We've been talking about it for too long. I think the Councilman is doing the right thing by making everyone put it to a vote!

    1. ^^^^^^^^^ Wrong. Lucas, like most everybody, is just using this for political gain. Just like all things KC. There's no concern about money or the taxpayers, just the political payoffs.

    2. Why can't it be Troost?

That is the real dividing line in KC.

    3. Why can’t we rename it James Earl Ray Blvd. Mr Ray was a great American hero and he was actually from Missouri. Martin King never even came here.

  2. Thank you for listening to the will of the people Councilman Lucas. You are doing an EXCELLENT job and I look forward to voting for you for Mayor.

  3. When will the amount of money demanded by the King family be made public?
Do Lucas and the rest of the clowncil even know what it is?
And it will probably be an "pay for eternity" arrangement.
Desperation is certainly the right word!
And if this is what passes for Lucas' "leadership" style, KCMO's rush to bankruptcy has just been accelerated.

  8. I think there are some legitimate concerns about the 75 percent issue but the priority need to be that we get moving on honoring the legacy of Dr. King. Let's do it right but the wait has been too long. The Councilman is right for pushing it forward.

  9. No financial sense, this is why Lucas should not be mayor.

  11. It's going to cost 50 thousand dollars to change just the street signs that's not including payment to MLK's family to use his name! Think twice about this Kansas City and don't let this happen, it's money thrown out the window when our infrastructure is in great need of repair. This is absurd what the city is doing to it's residents. The streets can't even get lanes painted but they want to shove this down our throats? Put a stop to it!

  12. Lucas thinks he can get votes by doing this, it has nothing to do with mlk or killa shitty, this is a bad move because he just revealed to everyone that he doesn’t care about the taxpayers who’ll be paying for this. Just like sLIE, he’ll spend money on stupid crap instead of where it needs to be spent, infrastructure, sewers and more police. What’s his stance on the worlds 5th most dangerous city?

  13. Him and sLIE are drinking buddies, the only difference is sLIE has a city issued suv worth about a hundred grand and two police officer chauffeurs at about $180,000 a year to drive him around when he sleeps it off.

  17. It is truly amazing how KCMO panders to the negros. They’ve been allowed to ruin numerous commercial and residential areas (with the Plaza being the latest ruination in progress), they’ve been thrown millions of dollars for the worthless jazz district, the feral young have to be entertained with pizza parties, etc. on the city’s dime and now they want a street renamed after the ultimate negro grifter that had nothing whatsoever to do with KC. The posters on here that say KC is on the fast track to becoming the next Detroit are exactly right.

  30. If everyone would send their (non-troll) comments to the city council, it might make a huge difference. I think they underestimate how strongly people feel about this issue. Cut and paste these email addresses.
