CLAY CHASTAIN REMINDS US: HE'S STILL RUNNING FOR KANSAS CITY MAYOR!!!

It wasn't a poll . . . BUT . . . I'm not one to nitpick and this presser serves as a reminder that Clay Chastain did make it onto the ballot last time around and he plans to renew his candidacy in the upcoming election.

Here's his latest:

Maverick Clay Chastain comes out on top in "favorite Kansas City mayoral candidate" poll

Albeit far from conclusive or scientific, Clay Chastain came out on top in a "favorite Kansas City mayoral candidate" poll recently taken by blogger Tony's Kansas City.

But, how can that be when the liberal-oriented Star acts like conservative and maverick candidate Clay does not exist, and when the elitist-oriented establishment refuses to invite Clay to their debates?

Perhaps some people are sick of the old way of doing things in Kansas City and favor a new kind of honest, independent-thinking and action-oriented leader to take over the helm and govern in behalf of the taxpayers and not wealthy developers.

Here are some additional reasons voters might want to favor engineer Clay (and not another establishment-oriented attorney or individual on the current City Council) to lead our city forward and "Restore the City Beautiful"...

(1) Clay will govern with inspiration, in the open and in behalf of the taxpayers and not wealthy developers.

(2) Clay will close the door shut on anymore taxpayer handouts to wealthy developers.

(3) Clay will lower the city's overall tax rate and put an emphasis on reducing violent crime in the city.

(4) Clay will move to integrate a new modern transit system into the new airport and connect it to downtown.

(5) Clay will move the city's focus away from glitzy projects and onto fixing its busted infrastructure.

(6) Clay will move to place the expansion of the streetcar system proposal before citywide voters.

(7) Clay will place before voters a petition initiative to expand and modernize the city's public transportation system (infrastructure) and use that state-of the-art transit system as a catalyst to grow the city's economy, population and revenues.

If the people want a new kind of government to forge a new kind of city, they will have to elect a new kind of leader.

  1. Pretty much everything most, the majority of voters want but they still won't vote for him.

We enjoy getting shafted here by grafters, we are used to it and it's always priority #1.

  4. Clay makes the best points for being elected Mayor but his in town/out of town tactics make it hard for supporters to really get behind him.

He is going to have to really commit to Kansas City in a big way if he is even half ass serious about this campaign.

He best get packed up and moved here big time and fast or fade away like last nights snow.

  5. Clay is the logical choice!

  6. KC seems to be stuck in the same ole politics. I'm not sure why people who have been part of the problem for so many years expect to suddenly have the power to change things once they become Mayor. With that said, I'd consider the guy. At least he has a desire to fix whats broken.

  7. He probably is the best mayor.

Funny how Kander had to make up an excuse to drop out after realizing how shitty it would be to actually win. He'd be in a no win situation. Win and you've inherited one of the more poorly run cities that is going to have to pay up very soon. Lose, and well, you've lost another election.

The more time that passes, the more obvious it is that he needed an out and no one will ever call him on it. Sadly he probably was the best option but KC is fucked either way.
