TKC TRANSIT TREND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY ELECTRIC SCOOTER PROLIFERATION SPARKS BUFFERED LANE TOUGH CHOICE BETWIXT DOWNTOWN ON-STREET PARKING VS. TRAFFIC FLOW!!!

The Kansas City electric scooter sensation this Summer has inspired City Hall leaders to consider imposing more restrictions on Downtown traffic along the streetcar line.

To wit . . .

SCOOTERS ON MAIN STREET INSPIRE 'ACCELERATED' CONSIDERATION OF MORE LIMITATIONS ON CARS!!!

In this morning's KC Stat meeting, City Manager Troy Schulte spoke of scooter traffic "conversation that we're going to have sooner rather than later (on protection) for scooter traffic . . . It's becoming a public safety issue."

The choice . . .

The joke-y talk among KCATA leaders, Mayor Sly and the City Manager warned of a decision betwixt more buffered lanes for scooters and bikes vs. the growing likelihood of eliminating on-street parking along the toy train line.

Again, cutting traffic flow is also a choice that's on the table.

The growing number of injuries to Bird scooter riders have inspired this talk.

Also, on "more than a few" occasions, according to KC Stat officials, scooter riders are delaying streetcar traffic and Bird scooter wheels have been stuck inside toy train tracks.

TKC Fact Check . . . The upshot here is that there's an ongoing war with auto traffic on Main Street and using scooter safety as a reason to remove more cars is a convenient ploy whereas bigger, better cities have simply banned dockless scooters altogether.

Developing . . .
