TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS TOUT CITY HALL IMPEACHMENT AMID DELAYED NEW AIRPORT DISASTER!!!

Tonight we have FIRST WORD from local activists regarding their take on the current crisis involving the new airport.
A couple of quick reality checks that contradict most of the happy news from the MSM . . .
- The new airport is stalled and KCMO will basically have to START OVER after the election.
- EXCLUSIVE: There's still hard feelings about SCRAPPING THE OLD SCHOOL TERMINALS WHICH WILL DRAMATICALLY INCREASE COSTS more than anyone has calculated.
The latest . . .
CFRG: "We have watched with amazement the clown circus surrounding the planning for a new or remodeled Kansas City airport. It never seems to end. Now after spending millions of taxpayer dollars for attorneys to construct an agreement with local unions and workers, the FAA has ruled the document illegal. Shouldn’t the lawyers have to return their fees? That only seems fair since they drafted a document no one can use. Where are the mayoral candidates on this wasteful spending?"
From a tax fighter associate . . .
"Think about it, before the entire “Sly James Single Terminal” scam began, which has cost the Aviation Department, the FAA, and everyone who flies,(not to mention the taxpayer dollars spent to maintain the airport roadways), tens of millions of dollars over the past 5 to 6 years to justify a new Single Terminal when there was not one mention of a “Single Terminal” in any of the previous MCI Master Plan Updates. In the 2015 MCI Airport Master Plan update it stated a need for 60 plus gates to meet the need of the Aviation Community. The 2017 Moody report stated KCI had 66 gates available with 47 jet bridges and had 600 days of cash on hand and hoped to have 700 days of cash on hand by 2019. There was not one creditable engineering study that indicated the “Concrete Structures” were unusable. In fact when they floated the $250M bond just 10 years earlier they indicated the terminal structures were sound and would last at least 25 years. Their own actions support this today with the current ongoing upgrades and renovation of terminal “C”!"
The money line is scary abut certainly translates to higher ticket prices and costs for most local residents . . .
"The payment on a $1.4 billion dollar loan on top of their current debt will significantly surpass our airport's current income levels and any foreseeable income levels."
And so, whilst the nation is wrapped up in impeachment talk . . . Tax fighters target City Council and the airport cheerleaders with more local and insidious allegations of political negligence.
Developing . . .
This isn't necessarily bad news for KC. We need to start over and think about doing something different than this dumb plan. The delay is costing a lot of money and hasn't produced anything worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteThis thing is a gold mine for anybody who has enough connections to get a contract. Sorry, I love the city and I don't like seeing taxpayers getting a raw deal here. But let's not overlook opportunity. If you can get onboard this gravy train, you've got it made. They've already said it's the biggest project in KCMO history, and it's totally out of control.
DeleteFasten your seatbelts, this should be fun!
Future generations should know that THIS is how KCMO went bankrupt.
DeleteHogs at the trough?
ReplyDeleteif it's possible to cut our losses and go back to common-sense remodel, we should do that.
ReplyDeletethe remodel could include some sexy stuff to put pizzaz into the terminals.
think about an airport hotel and shopping and entertainment spaces across from the three terminals. make the moving sidewalks look like the jetsons.
Is ANYONE surprised at this??? We shouldn't be, it's being orchestrated by a mayor who will be irrelevant in a year. KCI will sit as is while the city hall circus carries on.
ReplyDeleteThe new design isn't even what people voted for!
ReplyDeleteFreudian Slip Go4KC says...
ReplyDeleteYou people are all so negative. Our airport is way too convenient. In order to present our 25 million travelers a year with an experience they're used to in, say, Atlanta, we simply must make our airport as inconvenient as possible. What do you want people to think when they land here? That we actually gave some thought to the passengers? That is so 1970s, you bunch of losers. Maybe you should get out more and visit other airports. We certainly have. Stop posting about the airport. Do you know the meaning of "done deal?"
You losers need to get beyond your naive belief that you have any say in what this city does. Our goal is to move this city forward and provide people with that we want, and what we want includes a shiny new airport, a modern streamlined version of 19th Century transit, and most of all a warm comfortable place for our new downtown residents. We want to keep those campaign contributions coming, and c'mon. Who do you think will be able to provide more contributions--a lousy pothole company or someone building a shiny new building. If you want anything out of us, show us the money. Otherwise STFU, you bunch of whiny basement-dwelling losers.
7:30, you forgot the part about the momentum.
ReplyDeletethink outside the box, please.
ReplyDeletewhen a traveler arrives, they're put in a vertical crate with a bar code for their destination. then, they're whisked to their plane by a robotic transporter and stacked into their plane.
no need for a comfortable terminal.
in other words, the final gap between passengers and cargo is eliminated, making the process more efficient.
Just doing what the Sly James administrations of the past 7 1/2 years does best.
ReplyDeleteRipping the citizens off and smiling and grinning all the way to their banks.

ReplyDeleteYou know what would be awesome! Run this story again tomorrow and watch gopherkc have a meltdown......... again! Hahahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteGopher boy thinks only he has first amendment rights, he’s trying to shut us up and I say this, good luck with that gopherkc.
ReplyDelete^^^^ What you're doing is cyber-bulling and it is horrible. It doesn't speak well of your cause and it makes all people who oppose the airport look mean and unreasonable. Stop it now and speak about the issues, not your personal animus.
DeleteKC Airport, biggest scam running.
ReplyDeleteThe new plan: Put a grocery store in the new airport and build a streetcar from 18th & Vine to it. That will give us the "momentum" we need!
ReplyDeleteThe airport will cost $3 BILLION and not a penny less.
ReplyDeleteWell-spoken, Angela.
ReplyDeleteWe're still gonna get a Cinnabon at the new airport though, right?
ReplyDeleteCinnabon? Does anyone still eat that nasty crap?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you expect from a mayor that has a credit card rejected at the liquor store.
ReplyDeleteRemodel
ReplyDeletePlease protect the eight starbuck stations that remain. Pumpkin spice anyone?
ReplyDeleteIf an airport were profitable then KCK or some rural part of JOCO could swoop in a make a killing since KCMO is so lost and has been for the last decade and will continue to be after kander gets elected.
ReplyDeleteI like our airport and I know it's shitty but I'll be damned if it isn't the most convenient airport I've ever been to. I've been to many airports and it's so easy to get in and out of the boarding areas whereas in every other airport you're waiting in line at least 30 minutes to be groped. There's plenty of bathrooms/restaurants in the terminal and it's so easy to get in and out that I can't take those criticisms too seriously.
Johnson County is not, was not, and will never build a commercial airport. Credulous people take note.
