  2. This city has never responded to anything in 48 hours ever.

Least when you call for the fire dept you know a pumper will be there shortly.

  3. how about the city responding to getting non-paying renters out within 48 hours? Oh, we can't do that because they're black.

  4. They can't be black, @4:25 - if they were, your Section 8 Rent payments would be showing up on time and they wouldn't ne "non-paying".

  6. This ordinance is another reason why it doesn't make any sense to own property or live in KCMO. They are't just anti-business, they're looking to REDISTRIBUTE all wealth in favor of the deadbeats.

  7. 5:57pm You do mean the deadbeats at City Hall, right? Not one dime is intended for the renters. this is just another scam fund for the City to blow off more money on nothing or give raises to their lacky, lazy employees. Don’t get it twisted. this has nothing to do with funding renters. it’s just another revenue stream for the City.

  8. There is no excuse for nonpayment of rent. If your apartment is really unlivable, escrow the rent, file the complaints, and break the lease properly. If you don't escrow the rent, you are lying about why you didn't pay. Also, stop having babies at taxpayer expense, just a thought, maybe you can afford rent. Too bad you don't have to pay for school lunches, too, babymama!

  11. Escrow the rent? how is that done? Never heard of it so how does work?

  12. 7:56, I am not a lawyer, if a lawyer contradicts me, listen to the lawyer. You cannot legally not pay the rent. BUT, if you have something in the house that makes it unlivable, and you don't pay rent but rather tell the landlord you are breaking your lease and MOVING OUT, and taking the rent to court; and he files an eviction; and you have faithfully paid your rent into a bank account that exists for that purpose only, and show up with the money on your court date, with proof of the problems--and they have to be BAD, not roaches but rather toilet won't work, something that dire--then maybe, just maybe, the judge will dismiss your case. Law is not on your side but judges are allowed to use common sense and are more likely to do so if you are not just a deadbeat who does not pay rent. Talk to a lawyer before you do this. Having paid the rent into a special savings account is good proof that you are not just a dummy who paid a truck payment instead of the rent.

  13. 5:55 managing debt is how you get good credit. Without debt, you cannot apply for credit.

It's a myth that regular people live within their means. Managing debt drives the economy.
