TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! ON 9/11 ANNIVERSARY KCFD CONFRONTS MORE HATE CRIME ALLEGATIONS AND RISING THREAT OF RACIAL ANIMOSITY!!!

Whilst the nation honors victims and heroes of an American tragedy, in Kansas City there's growing antipathy challenging public safety workers on the contentious topic of race relations.

To wit . . .

KCFD REMAINS MIRED IN A RACIAL CRISIS THAT'S REPORTEDLY GROWING MORE VIOLENT BEHIND THE SCENES!!!

On record . . .

This year a KCFD worker sparked nationwide outrage when patrons of a suburban Hooters alleged that he called a youngster the n-word and spit on the victim . . . DON'T FORGET THAT HE WAS CLEARED OF ASSAULT CHARGES!!! However, the public relations damage to the KCFD remained as online news outlets didn't offer much in the way of forgiveness following the JoCo court decision.

Now . . .

BRUTAL BAR FIGHT DEETS CIRCULATE AMONG OUR BLOG COMMUNITY THAT SPARK CONCERN ABOUT RISING RACIAL DIVISIONS AMONG THE KCFD!!!

So far, what we understand is word of an ALLEGED assault outside of a Northland bar and more allegations of racial slurs during the fight. Some KCFD denizens allege a coverup while others explain that the "incident" was a personal beef that coincidentally fell along racial lines but wasn't racially motivated outright . . . Given that the firefighters attacked were hanging out with the suspected ruffians.

For the record, TKC isn't going to do a deep dive on FD drama but rampant chatter regarding the fallout from the fight sparks a longstanding debate regarding racial avarice within the KCFD.

While deets about racial slurs and brawls outside of bars are captivating the big picture is . . .

- KCFD paid out more than $200K in one recent discrimination lawsuit. This year a federal lawsuit alleges a pattern of discrimination. Just last year another lawsuit by an African-American employee resulted in a $350k verdict

- Efforts at minority recruiting have largely failed and the numbers regarding career advancement and new hires have been mostly stagnant.

Accordingly, here's an important quote from a witness and crusader withing the organization . . .

"We the minorities of the KCFD that serve the citizens of KC, feel they should be warned that there are bigots that are amongst us."

And so, the current divisive climate among this public safety institution informs today's tribute:

  1. yes, the local fd has their problems. the racial stuff is just part of it. There's also overtime issues, sexism claims and the issue of pensions.

Maybe KC needs to think about an audit of this organization as well.

    1. Biggest issue that KCFD faces has nothing to do with racism or any politics. It's nepotism, that's what hurts the morale of all employees and it's a good place to start when we talk about reform.

    2. I used to be one of those guys who constantly criticized the KCFD. And then I had an interaction with another metro fire department and realized that our service is SOOOOOOO much better than anything around us. Is it perfect, no but I think it's encouraging that there has been at least some reform effort in KC to replace leadership and take the organization in a new direction. In other metro departments, it might as well be 1952.

  2. Of course fire fighters aren't racist. OF COURSE!

  4. Sure Tony whatever. This thread coming from a guy who got his ass sued by the head of the KCFD union and lost! You don't have any axes to grind.

The number one question on a KCFD app should be, "Do you get butthurt easily?" If they answer yes don't hire them. Ever notice who the ones are that are filing all the lawsuits? I rest my case.

  6. The reality is that white folks are having to confront their own racism and privilege, which we have gotten away with for a long time. It is good that we are becoming more aware of this, but it is also unfortunate that is has resorted to breakdowns in communication, relationships and even violence.

Many white folks believe that because they recognize slavery and Jim Crow as "bad" that this absolves them from racism.

Black folks still experience racism in various forms that many white folks have not experienced and may not understand. Structural racism is something that plays a large role in overcoming obstacles and fortifying implicit biases.

Whatever may or may not be happening within KCFD is happening in offices and government departments and school buildings and communities all over the US.

It's important to keep in mind when discuss ing this issue that black folks and white folks have different definitions of racism. This is something that transcends Republican/Democrat politics, and in fact, many white "allies" often exacerbate the discussion by slathering white guilt everywhere.

  7. Bryan is right, we are all disgusting Racist pigs, every one!
If I were a member of a minority, I would move away from here as soon as I possibly could and punish the entire population of the Kansas City Area by depriving them of the wonderful benefits of Diversity!

    1. Calm down, Anny. I never said anything of the sort. I pointed out that the folks who promote white guilt are a huge problem. That doesn't change the fact that so many white folks are ignorant of their privilege, take it for granted, and continue policies that create additional obstacles for POCs.

We can raise awareness of that truth and do a better job of finding intentional ways to avoid it or correct it rather than continuing to raise our kids in the suburbs, putting public resources toward boutique projects, and looking down at folks who struggle to making a decent living for their families.

  8. ^^^^^

Hey Bryan You are really out there! We raise our kids in the burbs to avoid the black violence towards them as well as ourselves, because I have a quote boutique project doesn't mean I don't give thousands to City Union Mission and other things that help poor people black and white.

It's also not my job to educate everyone in the city or to put my life on hold while some people don't want to or that will never better their lives.

If you are a white guy maybe you could stand in the middle of the street in some areas of Kansas City and try to reason with some of the people that hate you so bad they will circle you with their knives drawn... Ever been in that situation in our city????? I have.

  9. Things have changed. This isn't Martin Luther King's America anymore. Instead of acknowledging gains and starting to hold themselves and their communities accountable for their violence and dysfunction, the 'community' has adopted a posture of perpetual blame, grievance, and victimhood. This allows them to continue to hide behind outdated racial narratives instead of addressing or even admitting to their own problems.

"White Privilege" is just another anti-white Marxist myth. Like "benefits of diversity", "diversity is our strength", "gender inequality", "toxic masculinity", these poisonous lies only exist in the mainstream media and on college campuses, especially in the mid-west. Multiculturalism is ideological syphilis and no amount of government mandates, or media and academic efforts at indoctrination will change that. More and more White people are arriving at this (logical) conclusion with each passing day--this is why conservative voices are being silenced by big tech globalists. Quite simply, the right continues to win the debate with facts. Mr. Stalder could post here all day every day and and continue to hit the cold, hard brick wall of reality. You'll find only frustration here, Mr. Stalder, because almost no one is drinking your kool-aid or buying your bullshit.

  13. Yeah, wtf, are your bi-polar posts trying to convey, Mr. Stalder? Explain "...black folks and white folks have different definitions of racism". You're a liar or a hypocrite if you believe that is true. RACISM IS RACISM NO MATTER WHO IS DOING IT!!!

And, so what about non-whites living in burb hoods. Maybe like us whites, they want safety, decent neighbors, good private AND public schools, ample shopping, upkeep on roads and MORE positives!

What, you think everyone in the metro should be stacked in high rises, or on tiny lots with small yards, near blight, crap infrastructure, failed schools, over-taxed, limited shopping choices, violence increasing, and WORSE, # 6 in murder momentum, remember?!

  14. Bryan, I’d like to hear your definition of white privilege. And I mean that sincerely. Unless there’s a secret handshake I’m not aware of, anyone of any race has the option to pursue whatever life they choose. My wife and our two kids are textbook middle class. Comfortable but average home in OP, two Hondas in the garage, wife and I each have Bachelors degrees and decent jobs. My parents and hers were the same middle class stock. We both had student loans to help with college. We also both worked p-t during the school year and f-t in the summer during our time at a state university. Although what we have accomplished is average at best, we’ve done it all ourselves with no handouts or freebies from family or the government. I would like to know what about our story is privileged, other than we had awesome, supportive parents who chose to be responsible for us, the kids that they created. This, however, was not because they were privileged, it’s because they worked hard and made raising their families a priority. To my knowledge, people of any race in this country have the same opportunities we did for working our way through school and making responsible decisions. But I see way too many poor folks who would rather sit around and cry foul or make excuses for everything they “can’t” do. Oftentimes while they’re doing this, their kids are out committing crime or getting pregnant; both choices that will obviously impact the outcome of their lives. I guess I just don’t see where accepting responsibility for one’s own life and family is a “privilege.”

  15. Capitalism required the structure of white supremacy that is stated by John Lock. In treaties of government 300 years ago that states 'there will be a race of labor'. The ability to divide the working class ..meaning 'anyone who collects a paycheck' is the genius of the capital class. Capital class meaning those who inherited wealth also known as the 'bourgeois'. The owning class, ruling class, boss class built and control our nations institutions. If you look at the political debate in 1936 you will find the same debate ensues today.

    1. Barely coherent. I think you mean John Locke. Get back to your freshman philosophy class and pay better attention.

You and other Marxists find your root ideas in Hegel, who like his successors sought to put an all powerful state in charge. Every single time Marxism/Communism has been tried, it's resulted in disaster, massacre, and unfreedom.

For the fams I know in those exclusive enclaves who started life in Strawberry Hill and similar evirons, they got IT ALL on their own going to WORK in their better years as attorneys, an American Century executive, science research investments, a telecom manager, a real estate broker, and a car dealerships owner. Warren Buffet WORKED to get his, too.

Remember last year the lawsuit that one black f.f. Put on the city? The reason he couldn’t promote was he couldn’t pass the test, simple as that people.

Not everyone on the department only has a high school diploma, some of these minorities that are passed over have several degrees from accredited colleges and universities but they are not recognized and overlooked simply because of their color not how much hard work they put into their craft or going to school since you want to talk about people being overpaid why aren't teachers paid higher city attorney's can be corrupt what makes them deserve a higher wage than anybody else they're not risking their lives.
