SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY CROSSROADS BAR SUFFERS TRIPLE SHOOTING!!!

Sadly, the influx of the creative class and hipsters into the urban core haven't made local nightlife any safer.

To wit . . .

LAST NIGHT A TRENDY KANSAS CITY BAR JUST A FEW BLOCKS FROM THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR ENDURED A SPATE OF GUNFIRE TARGETING PATRONS!!!

Here's the roundup report . . .

KCTV5: There was a shooting at Rhythm & Booze in Kansas City, Missouri early on Sunday.

The shooting happened around 2:18 a.m. at the location at 423 Southwest Blvd. Two men and one woman were shot inside the bar.

Two of the victims are in serious condition and other victim has non-life-threatening injuries.

Don't be fooled by the Blvd location . . . At one point this was an LGBT establishment and recently became more of a scenester trendy place overall. Patron's were's celebrating Mexican Independence Day . . . Given that it's on the other side of 35, closer to upscale new apartments and has long served as a hipster hookup spot.

More importantly, the shooting reminds us of the growing KCMO urban core violence that threatens otherwise vibrant new Downtown hangouts.

Developing . . .

  1. So I guess density, scooters and transit doesn't allay drunk people with guns? Who knew?

    1. Hey now, this place actually has some really great chicken strips. Hate all you want but it gets a good mix of people and was never really a totally lgbt place. Trendy? Maybe. But the shooting seems a lot more like a personal dispute.

I don't see the problem here. So we lose a few patrons? After all, with 25 million tourists visiting KC every weekend, there are more where those came from. You people are so negative. Always complaining about potholes and fire hydrants that don't work. If you'll get out of your basements, you'll see we've been at work on the streets. Why, just look at Troost. We've invested zillions on metal plates that make driving Troost an obstacle course. Think how much you'll save by driving Troost instead of going to Worlds of Fun! Why, we must have filled at least three potholes on 63rd Street--and at least one was east of Troost. Who says we never do anything for the east side? And as for fire hydrants, what's a few homes here and there in the name of progress? Just be happy we still have fire hydrants that do work. There must be at least a couple of them.

Just be grateful we've invested so much of your money in a downtown that's not only expensive, but safe except for the few who make the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good--a late dinner.

  11. This incidents upsets SLie's propaganda about KCMO having a vibrant entertainment area unless shootings are part of a vibrant area. Regardless, the shootings give KCMO momentum and KCMO should try to hide the bad news from the 25 million anally tourists.

    4. Actually, none of us are ever alone here because you’re like a dingleberry that’s always hanging on. Day after day, regardless the topic, you make the same bland and basic retort to anyone and everyone that doesn’t see the world with the same warped degree of perception as you. The funniest thing about it all is that the disenting opinions you think you’re shooting down usually outnumber you by at least 3 to 1 and are posted by people who find you about as relevant as a pile of dried up dog shit and who wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire. Big kiss, now run along and play.

  15. So wait....three people were shot in Kansas City at a bar on southwest boulevard? I mean...why does this sound so normal anymore? A place fancied by hipster queers that think it’s cool to live and frequent in high crime areas for some odd reason? You dumb asses shouldn’t be at that place at 2am what did you expect?

I don’t go to anyplace on southwest boulevard. It smells down there, crazy drivers, people get shot and robbed, etc. it’s trashy. Call it diversity or any other PC feel good term but it is what it is.

  16. So, ok off topic but I’m watching the chiefs game (which is amazing today) and McDonald’s commercial comes on. It’s a room full of black people talking about McDonald’s new chicken item with sauce and spice. Does it get any more stereotypical? It’s like the McRib commercials that have a soul jazz beat in the background with some black dude eating it. Don’t forget the good ol Sprite commercials. You know with the rap beat and urban basketball courts with everyone smiling taking a swig.
