I'm not a fan of public utilities getting away with overcharging their customers, but this woman obviously doesn't understand how temperature affects the operation of her AC. A one degree difference causes your furnace or AC system to work harder to maintain the desired temperature. Two degrees makes even more difference. If her home isn't properly insulated, her HVAC system is inefficient, and she wants to keep her home frigid, her bill is going to increase as the temperature increases. KCP&L can't be responsible for factors outside of their control. The public service commission sets the rate KCP&L can charge. Not sure how an audit will help. If there is any fraud, it would be more likely to occur at the meter.
ReplyDeleteThe petition went off in the wrong direction - instead of and "audit of KCP&L", what is needed is an audit of Missouri's Public Service Commission, in an attempt to stop their "rubber stamping" every request for a rate increase they receive.
ReplyDeleteKcpl has been price gouging for years. Folks need to compare bills in all areas of Missouri and kansas.
ReplyDeleteLook at taxes charged and see if this money has actually been paid to revenue departments in Missouri and kansas.. bet somebody at kcpl didn't turn over all the cash they collected.
Kcpl aka great plains energy raises rates in anticipation of other energy companies they want to buy.
These rate increase aren't for things they state they want to do to improve kcpl at all. Only to make buys. Under ceo bassham this got worse. Past ceo chesser wasn't as bad although people have noticed spoke in cost and no improvements..
coal trains cost a million per train what are folks being charged for this energy fuel by kcpl... kcpl needs ordinary folks to be on board that are not shareholders. This can shed light on what going on.
