Risking life and limb to buy some snack cakes, cheetos, and cold cuts is a lot to ask . . . And so we can't blame urban core denizens for skepticism and caution. In the meantime, here's a widely touted note on public safety and the ongoing struggle to argue for the viability of this urban core grocery outlet.

Police arrest suspect in Sun Fresh shooting
He'll be back out on the streets by sundown.
ReplyDeleteAt which time he’ll immediately start “turnin he life aroun an sheeit” like he momma know he be a good baby.
DeleteSad but true. Not that I begrudge anybody their rights but the fact is that catch & release has been standard for a lot of KC criminals. We've seen it play out over the Summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the shooter is 15 and named something like D'Qwanzo and was on his way to college. His mom is 29 years old, a high school dropout, unemployed and on welfare. He has never met his dad. Him and his mom live with their 43 year old gramdmama who is herself a high school dropout, never had a job and is also on welfare. She has 5 kids from 5 dad's, none of whom has ever met his kids. Multiple family members have died young from violence and/or are in prison. You know, it is strange I don't have any "community activists" where I live. Why is that? I'm sure there are plenty of people who do volunteer work but no community activists. Weird.
ReplyDeleteYep, safe now they caught that one rat with a grudge and a gun.
ReplyDelete"Local leaders and pastors came together at the market Tuesday to assure the community that they are committed to stopping gun violence."
ReplyDeleteProviding some cash is slipped under the table to offset the funds lost while meeting at the market on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteStopping the gun violence is easy. They need to stop the catch and release of these people. Another issue is, if he is white or black? The black man will walk on the argument that he is suppressed by the color of his skin.
I think everyone should pitch in and buy him some Nike's so he can run faster from the next crime.
Any big city is going to have violence. Stop bickering its the federal laws that need changed. Stop arguing and start voting
ReplyDeleteFederal laws do not magically fix broken culture, lack of fatherhood, and endemic violence.
DeleteTo stop the catch and release of violent criminals would start with the prosecutor. We would have to get rid of Jean Petersucker Baker, the weakest prosecutor ever. Jean Petersucker Baker is the criminals best friend.
ReplyDeleteThe only way catch and release works is if the criminal gets released and is then shot and killed by another hood rat. The more hood rats kill each other, the better.
ReplyDeleteSunfresh should institute a 25 cent, per head charge for admission to the store to offset the cost of extra security.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful way to help teach east side residents responsibility. A quarter every time visiting the store is a recurring lesson and just might sink in and modify behavior.
The current laws on the books need to be strictly enforced.
ReplyDeleteStrip search them all before they can go into the store. Get that Dennis Creason guy to show them how its done.
ReplyDeleteStill want to know why City Hall is using tax money to subsidize this location so it can drive the two Grocery Stores that have been struggling to survive in this same neighborhood for years out of business!
ReplyDeleteHow about some investigative reporting as to who actually owns this "new" Store?
BOMB IT
ReplyDeleteYou are no safer at a QuickTrip.
ReplyDeleteYou are much safer at QuikTrip. The cops are always there, mooching free coffee and doughnuts.
ReplyDeleteWill grocery store shoplifters return ? Yes they're still in the store.
ReplyDeleteCouple a shots outside by an accomplice will open up a few minutes of free shopping inside.
ReplyDeleteA screen writer from Netflix should spend time in Kansas CITY AND WOULD HAVE a number of block buster movies THE GANGS the Drug dealers Independence Meth, town TONY CAN MAKE AN APPEARANCE. THE SLY MAYER
ReplyDeleteThat's Mayor
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if they hid the gun in a back pack or baby carriage otherwise that racial profiling didn't work.
ReplyDelete@Adam F, you're kidding right? Do you actually believe some manner of change in Federal Law is going to change multi-generational behavior of those from the inner City? This ain't the movies. Let's go total police state with an imaginary genie that can take all guns from good guys, bad guys and the indifferent. All guns, illegal, legal, homemade. That ingrained violent culture won't go away. There are still brutal beatings some resulting in death. Maybe we go back to the days of nails in bats, chains, shanks. Violent people, even with minimal imagination, can figure out a way to injure or kill their perceived enemies without guns. Couple this with a complete lack of respect for life and you have a difficult problem that can't be solved with the liberal utopia of banning guns via Federal Law.
