Not so long ago, the place was actually a lot more vibrant and put to better use for smallish festivals, events and concerts . . . Now 12th & Oak is soon to destroy the small swath on land with another tourism scheme that threatens to backfire and cost a ton of cash.

Yes, any remodel or revamping of anything ever is a bad idea. Don't you know Tony and his diaper patrol hate everything! No change! Yea, that garage below is a mess, who in the hell do you think you are if you're going to improve it? Don't you know us shut-ins will hate it? OK, we'll never go there, but so what! NO IMPROVEMENTS EVER!
ReplyDelete^^^ Perpetually offended. Must be exhausting.
ReplyDelete^^You must be new here. That post surmises every single post these cry baby complainers make, every day.
ReplyDeleteAnd yours surmises the self-righteous, think you know it all retorts you make everyday. Dims and libs have one answer and one answer only to every question: spend money! (Even if you don’t have any).
DeleteThe important part is this project is inside the downtown loop and everything inside the loop is priority 1. The city wants to fix the garage but none of the other failing infrastructure. Fixing/repairing failing parts of the city is good but there is a city wide problem with failing infrastructure.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Barney Allis Plaza off of 12th & Baltimore?
ReplyDelete@7:36 and @8:07, go take your meds and be quiet, the normal people are posting.
ReplyDelete@8:31 - the "12th & Oak" reference is to "The Joke On Oak",
ReplyDeleteaka Shitty Hall,
aka the place where they dream this crap up and call it progress,
aka "Slick Sly's Black Hole",
aka "Go4KC's Lunchbox"!
Who is going to pay for this? GO Bond money? This is over a year's worth of GO Bond budget. Which sidewalks will get pushed back? What other city promises to citizens will get pushed back?
ReplyDeleteTypical of KC. Screw the citizens - unless you work downtown and need to subsidize some part of your transportation to theater, dining, etc.
KC needs to be careful...Lenexa and Lee's Summit are doing things right at a fraction of the cost and with much lower taxes.
Judging from these comments, 8:07AM is dead on the money. You sad sacks need to find something better to do!
ReplyDeleteYeah, GOPHER @9:00 who is also 8:07, you say everyone should be cheerleading the shiny new things downtown and NEVER mention Democrim-run Killa Shitty's #6 ranking as most murderous, increased blight, crumbling streets, and KCPS prison pileline, and rapey utilities, high taxes, and MORE.
DeleteIf the garage had been taken care of all along it wouldn't be in this shape. Typical KC, ignore what we have to tear it down later and build new.
ReplyDeletea better open area above, one with a sense of place and green, is needed, imho.
ReplyDeletethe article said $60 million for garage renovations. Holy shit burn our city hall to the ground
ReplyDeletewe don't love the parking there but it seems to basically work.
ReplyDeleteRepair the garage, but tear down the airport?
ReplyDeleteThe City makes improvements In Downtown and Northeast, and some east side areas BUT THE KANSAS CITY DEEP SOUTH IS FALLING APART. I
ReplyDeleteGo4KC please explain to the taxpayers how this parking garage has been allowed to fall in such disarray that it will take 63 million to fix it?
ReplyDeleteCome on we are waiting for you to tell us how this was allowed to happen?
Well, SD, the biggest reason is the city’s garage committee stopped MOVING FORWARD and lost their MOMENTUM. As you can imagine, we spent millions for a study that said it needed repaired. Now we’re super excited because once the repairs are made, it’s going to be the coolest garage in the world. There will be several restaurants (chains, of course) in it. We’re so world class.
DeleteThe 63 million cost to fix the parking garage probably contains very large sums for kick backs to many organizations.
ReplyDeleteShhhh...$63 million and lots of the other Cowtown spending keeps the moneyed developers', lawyers', bankers', and chamber's fams in those real nice cribs across Leawood, Lee's Summit,Lenexa,Liberty,Loch Lloyd,Loiusburg,&the like!
ReplyDeleteLet Mission Hills Michael Merriman pay for it!! It's his taxpayer subsidized hotel that gets the benefit from the garage!!
ReplyDelete9:29 it’s a black mayor thang
