CONGRESSMAN CLEAVER DOUBTS FUTURE OF AMERICAN DEMOCRACY!!!

As midterms approach there are many who believe the future of the Republic is at stake. Kansas City's most prominent elected official is one of them.

In a recent interview, Missouri 5th District Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II expressed his frustration with life under the Administration of President Trump wherein Republican leadership refuses to offer checks and balances to the Administration despite many disagreeing with his statements publicly . . . The topic of the controversial Puerto Rico hurricane death count is the main focus of disagreement in this latest rebuttal.

Here's a link to the conversation and a bold quote from the former Kansas City Mayor:

Congressman Emanuel Cleaver: "The Democratic future of this nation may be, actually, in question."

You decide . . .

  1. Is he really that far off?

Don't always agree with the Congressman but it's impossible to deny that he has a point. Many others have said we're closer to a dictatorship than we've ever been before.

And let's take it a step further, wouldn't some of the main Trump supporters want it that way? wouldn't they gladly suppress all dissent if they could have their guy in charge permanently?

    1. Get a grip, he is a democratically elected President and he is doing exactly what he promised in his election campaign, up to and including challenging Democrats on all fronts. This is how Democracy looks. We're about to have an election to show our Democracy is even stronger and there are many people who will continue to vote with President Trump

    2. The Puerto Rico body count was a farce, they weren't even in Puerto Rico to see any bodies, the study was using mathematical models. Those can can never be wrong?

      Doubtful.

But I will say this, nobody ever accused Rep. Cleaver of failing to deliver a great quote.

  3. BETTER QUESTION?

    Congressman Carwash,

Why did you take $10,000 from the Barnes Law Firm (Jason Kander link) late in 2017 precisely when Kander was plotting to enter the race for Mayor, and then your son publicly endorsed him nearly a year before the election?

    What was that about Democracy?

  4. Fuck you Tony... How many recaptcha pictures do we have to get correct before you let us publish our screeds?

  5. If Cleaver somehow thinks that having elected people like himself in government he's been badly "throwed" a curve.
    What an empty suit!
Even people in his own party in Washington can't recognize him.

@8:31 - strange that you're having problems with "reCaptcha" and posting comments, it doesn't seem that anyone else is complaining about the same situation.

Have you tried reading and following the instructions?

Hey now, Harvey, "reCrapya" is f*ck'n looney tunes recently for me. This past week there's been 5 or more pic grids to solve before posts are accepted, until this morning the robot detector went to a single "puzzle".

So, 8:31 is not the only "complaint".

  8. Oh, i's pretty obvious that there will be strange goings-on in the 2020 "Elections".

I expect Federal Marshals at each Polling Place to assist the "Special Election Judges" as they review each ballot and weed out those that were "spoiled" by not having "Brother Donnie's" name marked.

It works wonderfully for Uncle Vlad, why not here?

  9. Clever: Do you call the KC City Council a democratic body? How about the Street Car process which ignored the popular vote? How about KC financing 18th and Vine against the wishes of the majority of people in KC?
How about the City financing of a Grocery which will only benefit a very small % of the City?
Do you call KCMO a democracy? This type of government is what paved the way for the rise of Trump and this government...
Congratulations Clever you are a part of the problem. Please retire.

  10. Clever, White and Reed. I am a lifelong Democrat who would vote for Trump over these government representatives. Emanuel, please retire. You are an embarrassment to your community and yourself.

  11. please read some history. there have been many periods in our history with big challenges, big divisions, and reason to question the durability of our republic.

it's important for our leaders to know history and to keep current events in perspective.

    we'll be fine long term.

  12. Dear 9:22-

We need The Cleavers and Feinsteins to help remind people to vote Trump 2020- stocks are awesome because of tax cuts!

Cleaver will always be remembered in KC as a Carwash fuckup.

  13. Actually, I agree somewhat with the Congressman. What we are seeing is widespread obstruction and collusion AGAINST the President and an attempt to over throw him without approval from the voters. That is a true threat to Democracy and something that should stop now!

  18. When Obama used executive orders to override the Republican majority, we didn't hear a peep from Cleaver about dictatorships.

  19. Obama used executive orders when the Republican Congress refused to do its duty and act.
Trump is doing the same thing for the same reason.
The difference is that Obama's executive orders were made public.

Trump signed over 150 executive order in the first week after he took office, but the details have only been made public on 42 of those. The remaining 100+ have been in effect for over a year and a half now, but the public has no idea what they are.

These are not the actions of a democratically elected leader of even a third world country!

And Congress is abetting this "secret government" situation!
