With a nearly meaningless caveat . . . Kansas City's latest tourist attraction drudges up enough support to dribble through City Hall . . . But without a funding source secured.

Without City Investment, The Kansas City Zoo's Aquarium Project Could Be Dead
The chairman of the Kansas City Zoo Board says a $75 million proposed aquarium project might be dead if the city can't come up with $7 million. "I'm concerned that it does not happen without that investment, without that partnership," Todd LaSala said Thursday after appearing before City Council's Finance and Governance Committee.
Aquariums require extremely high water conditioning maintenance procedures, particularly if, as I assume, this will be a salt water facility. Does this additional burden fit within the zoo's ongoing budget? Not being critical, just asking.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it take to stop this city administrations madness,!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy in the hell are you asking on here? Did you call the city? Get a clue nobody on here is qualified to tell you what the weather is outside. Take that shit elsewhere bud. It's nothing but geezer racists here.
ReplyDeleteAnd cock swallowing, craft beer sipping fags who get molested weekly by their great grandpa thus creating geezer hate.
DeleteSometimes when I used to go to worlds of fun I felt like I was at the Kansas City zoo primate exhibit.
ReplyDeleteOh, remember free day at the zoo a year or two ago and what happened there? I support the zoo though I think it’s good to have one so we can see all the animals that will be extinct in the next few decades.
When you regularly vote to borrow hundreds of millions of dollars, and that's what municipal bonding is, what's another measly $7 million.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that one of the more recent "issues" was for $800 million in GO bonds.
At least the zoo has an admission fee which partly funds the operation.
And it appears to be well-managed under its independent board.
There's a much better chance of success for this "investment" than the vast majority of the crap the clowns at 12th and Oak regularly approve.
The admission fee is intended to keep the ghetto parents from dropping off their kids to spend all day there causing trouble.
Delete^^^Ugh huh. OK. Thanks for the municipal finance lesson. No go watch Matlock!
ReplyDelete3:23 says it all and makes a good point.
ReplyDeleteBasement boy is active today. Many stupid posts, as usual.
ReplyDeleteSays the basement geezer who spends his days monitoring posts.
DeleteKC has spent this amount of money on much worse things
ReplyDeleteUpdated with a better link guys.
ReplyDeleteYes, it did move forward but NO . . . Funding is still up in the air.
7 mil is a drop in the bucket compared to what the city gives to P&L and 18th and Vine. The zoo has been getting better each year under the independent board. Seems like a good investment and better than most the city has undertaken recently.
ReplyDeleteSlie probably has some tiff funds the zoo could use or at least some of the developer money.
ReplyDeleteThe world's tallest water slide would fit in with the world's most landlocked boondoggle aquarium.
ReplyDeleteBut if we don't have this, how we going to compete with our peers?!?!
ReplyDelete^^^Sure you will asshole.
