KCTV5: Thousands still without power after storms rip through Kansas City area

Deets:

Tuesday's storms brought heavy rain, hail and wind damage.

Locations impacted included Kansas City, MO, Johnson County, KS, and Kansas City, KS.

As of 4 a.m. Wednesday, over 4,400 Kansas City Power and Light customers are without power. Most of the outages are in Kansas City and Johnson County, KS. Over 300 Board of Public Utilities customers are also without power.

As the storms raged on Tuesday, over 20,000 were without power in KCK and Independence. Over 16,000 KCP&L customers were without power.

Another round of storms is expected for Wednesday morning.

  3. 1:36 p.m. has a point about tree limbs. We have 50-60 year old trees that haven't been trimmed since the turn of the last century. Property owners ignore the danger and expect the power company to take care of it. Result: Dark
