TODAY: MAYOR SLY JAMES STARTS 'DATA DRIVEN' RACIAL CONVERSATION!!! WILL IT HELP OR HURT KANSAS CITY?!?
Tonight's the night . . . Stats, testimony, possibly a few tears and plenty of blame cast upon drunk uncles and the founding fathers will undoubtedly dominate the conversation.
The end game:
"Formulating and implementing a Race and Equity Action Plan for the city government, as an organization. The plan, as well as a public-facing, online dashboard that will track the city’s progress, will enable the city to begin the process of operationalizing, by serving as long-term tools for decision-making and accountability."
And this leads us to the obvious but still important question . . .
WILL THIS KANSAS CITY RACIAL SCORE CARD MAKE LIFE BETTER OR WORSE FOR RESIDENTS GIVEN THIS TOWN'S PROPENSITY TO FUDGE THE NUMBERS!?!?!
The term "data driven" sounds nice but don't forget this is from the same bunch who tout laughable KCMO 25-million tourism stats:
Anyhoo, here's a look at the agenda . . .
Mayor Sly Details The KC Race & Equity Initiative: Starting the Conversation
Money lines:
"We’ve accomplished so much, we’re still recognized as one of the most segregated cities in the country. Kansas City has yet to come to terms with its past and the structural biases that continue to hold our community back. We as a community must address the history and systems that have resulted in perpetual inequities among races and cultures in our community . . . In the year I have left in office, it’s my goal to begin the process of normalizing conversations about race and inequity. That’s why we’ll have a series of public conversations and trainings this fall, beginning with our kick-off event on August 29 at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. Our goal is to help community members come together to develop a common language to talk about race, to begin understanding how our collective past has shaped the systems that perpetuate racial inequity, and to begin to heal."
The invitation:
Kansas City is stronger and more vibrant than ever. Yet, while we’ve accomplished so much, we’re still recognized as one of the most segregated cities in the country. Kansas City has yet to come to terms with its past and the structural biases that continue to hold our community back. We as a community must address the history and systems that have resulted in perpetual inequities between races and cultures in our community.
Join Mayor James, Dia Wall of 41 Action News - KSHB-TV, public health and race and equity experts to examine local disparity data, reflect on Kansas City's history, and discuss what we can do today to change our community's trajectory.
Special thanks to the Kauffman Foundation, Kansas City Health Department, and Community Alliance for Race & Equity.
Doors: 6 p.m. | Event: 6:30 p.m.

More promo from KSHB: Mayor Sly James opening up series of conversations on race, equity in Kansas City
Again . . .
WILL THIS CONVERSATION HELP HEAL KANSAS CITY OR IGNITE EVEN GREATER DIVISIVE COMMUNITY SENTIMENT?!?!
You decide . . .
here's the thing TKC, it's not a "conversation" they don't want to hear both sides of the story or offer dissenting opinion. It's a meeting for an agenda, why not just call it that? They want to advance the interest of minorities in Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteThere's some debate there but I think most people understand that if one segment of the community does better, most will.
What people don't like is being lied to and that has been Sly's MO since day one.
Conversation just sounds better.
DeleteChow line is what it is.
That sounds shitty. As for the impact, it's not as bad as you might think. The people who really have the money aren't threatened by this buffoonery and those who really know the score just see it as one of many hustles. Just like a storefront preacher.
I don't know about you but "Race and Equity Initiative" sounds VERY scary and not like something that will result in a positive change. The title gives away the motive. A government effort devised to highlight our racial differences and expolit them instead of bringing us together.
ReplyDeleteAgree somewhat. The title of the effort is very Stalin-esque or at least something that a eastern block country would devise.
DeleteSly and the gang twiddling their thumbs. He's a LAME DUCK. Any data or initiatives that he devises here is gong to be scrapped as soon as he leaves office next year. What a scam! I'm certain this is costing Kansas City a lot of money for a glorified City Hall vacation day.
ReplyDeleteKansas City’s Citizen’s Satifaction Report on public safety was released several weeks ago and the mayor said nothing on the issue. Citizens all across the metro routinely said they felt less safe today than any time in the last 6-7 years. That police visibility has reduced to a level survey respondents called poor.
ReplyDeleteThe mayor has said nothing about the results, but as a midtowner we never see police. Under Sly our city has lost 150-200 officers and he is solely responsible for that. His legacy shouldn’t be his willingness to have a tough discussion, but what he didn’t do to combat young people dying in the streets of Kansas City.
He shouldn’t be able to tap dance his fat ass around that question.
I live in midtown and can see Armour Blvd from my front porch. I see police everyday sirens and flashing lights East bound and down.
DeleteMaybe the statical conclusion will show that monkeys shouldn't play with guns.
ReplyDeleteSurvey says KC is mired in B.S. while the potholes keep getting worse!
ReplyDeleteAppears to be another feel good program. Big question is where the data is being generated. Definitely another attempt to funnel more funds to the usual grifters at the trough at the taxpayers expense. Slie definitely does not want to hear the truth as this will be as one sided as ever.
ReplyDeleteGuarantee you no dissenting opinions will be allowed.
More bullying from Slie if you don't join the line and get behind him.
ReplyDeleteConversation about how to give the negroes more free stuff.
ReplyDeleteAnother "Conversation about race".
ReplyDeleteTranslation = Whitey listens to to racial mountebanks lecture him (White girls still get a pass, because, at this point, they are considered "victims" too on election day.) about the evils of racism.
The Progressive movement is religious in nature, brooks no disagreement, and, in fact, includes "Original Sin". Nascar's Conor Daly's dad, said the word "Nigger" in 1980, 10 years before Conor was born and he lost his sponsorship with Lilly Pharm just last week.
This will, in no fuckin way, be a "conversation". It will consist of the usual accusations, self flagellations and ethnomasochistic, virtue signalling of white, Progressive Beta males on their knees in front of self appointed, sanctimonious, rage filled, power-to-the-people wanna be Black Panthers with bow ties and criminal intent.
If they could and someday they might, they would "take your land" just like in South Africa.
The pretense, that this type of initiative is anything more than "exciting the base" for whatever the daily cause de jour is, is preposterous. it isn't just divisive, picking at the scab politics, it is a continuation of the relentless, sometimes violent assault on whites, under the thin patina of faux civility.
It's another dog whistle call to arms. The standard Cri De Coeur that is used by the "Resistance" against those they hate and want dead.
That's you white boy.
We are still dead, killed in Black On White Hate Crimes by a killer too stupid to pour piss out of a boot, who listened to shit like this, and then, after he learned to hate, killed us in Black On White Hate Crimes that no one wants to talk about.
7:11 sLIE has cut the police dept so low that in my part of town there’s only one officer till midnight or so then he leaves to go to the hood or Westport. This fine officer also told me that they routinely pull other officers from the rest of the city and put them in Westport or the hood, leaving no cops at all anywhere outside midtown and the hood.
ReplyDelete^^Well you want to talk about it chuck. You fucking talk about it all the time. Correction: You should say "that no one wants to hear me talk about". That's more accurate.
ReplyDelete8:06 And your problem is....
ReplyDeleteDoes chucks truth hurt your wittle feelings?
8:06
ReplyDeleteMine, is, as always, a response to the incessant agitprop from political Tonton Macoutes who promote this bogus bifurcation on a daily basis in order to maintain power, sinecure and bank on the backs of the dead and the wallets of the middle class.
^^^OK gramps, it's time for a changing. The big bad bogyman on the inter-webs won't hurt you anymore. Let's go. We've got tapioca!
ReplyDeleteBathHouse buttboi loves to hear his shrilly twang echo around the porcelain and tile while he's in his fave place.
DeleteChuck, yours as always, is a rambling incoherent screed from a lonely old man who feels left behind by a society that wants nothing to do with you. All that agitprop and bogus bifurcation is the reason you at your advanced age, still work a mindless, menial job. Isn't it?
ReplyDelete8:23
ReplyDelete:)
Thanks. Have a great day.
Chuck, I need specific examples of this "agitprop" please.
ReplyDelete8:30 go ask Hillary she knows all about it. Then when you get done go educate yourself so you can talk with the adults.
ReplyDeleteSome pretty eloquent comments regarding this impending "conversation".
ReplyDeleteIn keeping with that sentiment may I simply say "FUCK YOU SLIE"!
Thank You
(BTW 7:54, your should be "you're", you dumb shit.)
What a really unfortunate collection of comments. It seems like all of you including TKC have totally missed the point of this forum. We want to improve ALL of KC and make our city BEST in a way that will improve the lives of all of our community. The reaction I see here is hatred and backward sentiments. There aren't a lot of you who want to move our city forward, only spout reactionary politics while better people use the data in order to improve our city.
ReplyDeleteThe only comforting fact is that your voices are fading and KC is much more interested in coming together and finding unity in achieving progress and keeping up our momentum. Trying to stop it is not likely, there are so many good people who want to make Kansas City even better and the best city in America. We're making progress toward that every day.
Actually, it is you who missed the point. We have a lying fat fucking corrupt turd for mayor and a worthless city council. We aren’t going to have a good-faith conversation on anything.
DeleteSave your words 932. Gopher has his head so far up sLIE’s ass that it’s going to require surgery to remove it. Do what others do and toss back a shot every time Gopher uses terms like “move forward,” “momentum “ or “best city.” You’ll be hammered after just one of his posts.
DeleteYes you do see hatred,i hate seeing tax money that should go towards general services being pissed away on a generation of people who dont want to do shit but kill each other over silly shit, sit around with their hands out and dont contribute shit.
Delete^^^^^^^ Really hope they paid you for that sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteProbably not coincidentally, there is a column in today's Star by a black ACLU official, in effect demanding a quota system for hiring African Americans. Appears to be a coordinated effort by the Democratic city administration and its media propaganda arm to force businesses to institute illegal hiring practices, Constitution be damned. Most likely the crusade will continue in coming days.
ReplyDeleteMore BS coming from a Mayor full of BS.
ReplyDeleteAnti-Racist is code for Anti-White.
ReplyDeleteThe negroes already get enough welfare and free everything.
DeleteGo4KC
ReplyDeleteSeriously, what are you on?
BBC, of course!
DeleteGo4KC we have not missed out on a damn thing. We are tired of jokers like you and Mayor James who couldn't run a city if there was only the two of you in it.
ReplyDeleteThe black race has made it clear time and time again they don't want to get along with anyone. Hell they can't even get along with themselves. But along comes you jackoffs thinking we all need to bend over and kiss Blackies ass and make them feel all warm and fuzzy.
To that Mr. Go4KC, I say fuck you and the horse you all rode in on. Make the Blackies of KC start towing the line and making something of themselves and the rest of this BS will go away.
Sky and crew (past and current council) have screwed up this city so badly it will take decades just to sort through the damage and figure out what the next steps should be.
ReplyDeleteLiberal Democrats are all talk no action. Hire more POLICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or would that hurt the urban cores feelings ?????????
ReplyDeleteGo4KC
ReplyDelete"...We want to improve ALL of KC and make our city BEST in a way that will improve the lives of all of our community."
Bullshit.
You want a continuation of that specious, powerful, pervasive narrative that keeps you in power. Aligned with Democrats in a city run by Democrats, the Black Vote, for Democrats is necessary in order for your cabal of cronies to enjoy the fruits of middle class tax payers. So, you drum up antipathy in the black community with constant references to division and a need for the expiation of "White Guilt" by way of initiatives based on the premise of "White Guilt".
Then, if you are called on your Progressive, political presdigitation, you scream "RACISM!!!"
Forget it GO4KC...it's geezertown. You have to remember you are not talking to rational people here. The majority of posters to this blog are not interested in opposing views on any subject. They cannot think, write or speak rationally. They only want to complain and be their worst possible selves. Tony graciously gives them this form to be some of the worst people on the planet. You just laugh at them and move on.
ReplyDeleteGopher, 918 will be happy to meet you in the bathroom stall of your choice in world-class KCMO to comfort you in the way you both like best. Let him know what time to come.
DeleteSome really good comments in here today, except for that Go4KC dude.
ReplyDeleteWell what you expect with a 66 year old geezer mayor dancing around in a bow tie pretending he's cool 9:18? Quality?
ReplyDeleteHold the meeting east of Troost, south of the river inside the I435 loop and there will not be a problem.
ReplyDeleteDon’t they get enough welfare already?
ReplyDeleteThe people having the conversation are not the people needing the conversation.
ReplyDeleteIT'S SO.....OH SO IMPORTANT THAT SYLVESTER SAVED IT FOR HIS LAME DUCK PERIOD!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, Sylvester's step-mother was just a few years older than he was at the time. Somebody in his family had the foresight to get him enrolled in Catholic schools for a decent education. Fat black Sylvester learned that he could keep his classmates entertained, and this was better than becoming the butt of their jokes.
Sylvester married a white girl when they both were still kids themselves. The marriage failed. This union produced Sylvester's gay son, whom he was estranged with for most of his life. When this son died several years ago, Sylvester was not at the funeral.
Out of desperation or divine providence, Sylvester joined the military and learned some discipline. Importantly, this afforded him the opportunity to attend Rockhurst and later law school.
Like many insecure black men, Sylvester found he'd rather sweet-talk a white woman than deal with a black woman who held strong convictions. Sylvester got married a 2nd time to a white woman. This union (we believe it ended several years ago) produced 3 children. One is a Sylvester mini-Me, replete with military service, law school and a white wife. One works for KU in public affairs/fundraising. The youngest tried to succeed in music/entertainment where his father had failed, but his biggest hits involved compiling a rap sheet with law enforcement.
At his core, Sylvester remains that chubby little boy who feels like he doesn't quite fit in with the others. He continues chasing after the approval of strangers and basks in the glow of any attention they shower upon him. He tells himself: I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!
Oh, you mean an Uncle Tom?
Delete9:37
ReplyDeleteI played baseball in a league with Sly. He was a shortstop, not terrible, not chubby, nice guy. At least back then he wasn't chubby. He was a linebacker at Hogan, again, not bad.
It is what it is.
The truth is the truth.
We thank Sly for his service. I read a stat, that says, now, only 7% of Americans have served in the military. There is, in my opinion, a real solution to the problems we have in the inner city. Military Service, no matter how it turns out, usually improves the condition of the participants, if, of course, they don't get fuckin killed.
What's hilarious is if you look at that sign, it says 25 million visitors "anally." Anally? Really? JFC. No wonder the country thinks we are stupid in the flyover states.
ReplyDeleteActually, that sounds more likely. I can believe 25 million visitors ANALLY. Especially downtown where it’s just one big gay old time.
DeleteChris - I mean Go4KC, what do you call a Mexican "Reverse Oreo"?
ReplyDeleteA Chocolate-filled Alfajore?
"...we’re still recognized as one of the most segregated cities in the country." WHERE IS THE PROOF?
ReplyDeleteWhy is this piece of shit story even posted here?
ReplyDeleteThis is advice to a certain ethnic group, and I think we know who that group is.
ReplyDelete1. Stay in school and actually get a diploma.
2. Don't get pregnant before finishing high school, and if you
do, be sure you are married or at least have a father with positive
influence around the house.
3. Stop speaking ebonics and actually try and speak proper English.
4. Stop listening to violent rap music about banging hoes and popping caps
in people's asses.
5. Quit joining gangs which fosters tribalism and gang violence.
6. Listen to the police and maybe your ass won't get shot.
7. Get an interest in somethings besides sports, like fixing cars, wood
working, welding, computer programming, etc. A sports scholarship will
only get you so far.
8. Quit blaming the white man.
9. Repudiate those who exhibit such bad behavior, even if they are in your
own family and don't call those who disassociate with you 'traitors to
your race'
10.Quit blaming everyone around you for your life choices.
11. Finally, quit voting people in like Sly James whom are fostering
this victim hood mentality.
Johnson County saltine again.
DeleteSly James - Starting the conversation from his million dollar condo.
ReplyDeleteMore pastiche from Slie. He never does anything of substance, but wants to take credit for everything that is occurring during this national economic boom. Naturally, he won't be around when the bust comes and the City gets strangled by its debt and tax incentives. The worst is yet to come and Slie's doing the Kumbaya!!!
ReplyDelete10:03, you're right that in the past, military service has been a path out of the trailer park and the ghetto. Problem is, nowadays the people who need some straightening out won't be accepted by the military, either because of poor physical condition or a criminal history. I don't have an answer to the problem that does not involve removing the baby from its parents soon after birth and raising it in a healthier environment.
ReplyDeleteMeeting Agenda: Attack whitey for all our problems.
ReplyDeleteMayor
ReplyDeleteLoses
Kredibility
Because,10:30, it's the right of the residents of this 6th most homicidal city to know what a shithole and a shitshow their cowtown aspires to. Yep, this Democrim run circus will be "operationalizing" the usual scheme: take from the makers to give to the fakers and the free shit army.
ReplyDelete@11:24am has listed the most important topics that SHOULD be on the agenda.
ReplyDeleteBut not a single one will make the list.
Here's some "data" for the data-driven discussion:
In 2017 there were 150 homicides in KCMO
That's over 50% of the number of murders in New York City, a city with a population over 17 times as large as KCMO.
88% of the KCMO murder victims were black.
It's impossible to ascertain the identity of the perpetrators, because in KCMO only around 50% of the murders are ever solved.
Discuss!
Sly James is a carnival barker and flim flam man whose every initiative is all about himself, his "celebrity", his ego, and his political aspirations.
But he's paid by the taxpayers to be the mayor and the most basic responsibility of any level of government is public safety.
Discuss that too!
My grandparents had a black maid for many years. She and her husband (who worked as a roofer) were great people and, despite their modest wages, put their two children through college. They would have cut off their hands before taking charity, and were always very proud people. No ebonics, no baby daddy, no bustin caps in somebody’s ass. I think of them now and how they would be horrified at the state of the black community. Success in any race requires taking responsibility for your own actions and the actions of your minor children. No amount of seminars or government programs can change this; it’s up to the individuals.
ReplyDeleteDivide by race organize by class.
ReplyDeleteGopher kc, you’re the one that’s fading fast, and by the way, does your ar16 rules of internet usage allow you to disparage the citizens and tell them they don’t have first amendment rights to free speech? I encourage all on this blog to call the kcmo ethics hotline and let them know about gopherkc’s disgraceful behavior, here’s the number 1-800-340-3132, yes it’s the number listed on kcmo’s website
ReplyDeleteWe had the War on Poverty...... Now we're gonna have the War on Stupidity. Gonna lose this one too.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteKC should tout it's so-called high segregation --
would attract more productive Whites to the city.
Democrats love to bring up the differences in things.
ReplyDelete#walkaway
Maybe the conversation should start at City Hall where whites are quickly becoming a minority.
ReplyDeleteNow more than ever, we nee a white mayor and white city council.
ReplyDeleteDivide by race to conquer the working class.
ReplyDelete"There aren't a lot of you who want to move our city forward, only spout reactionary politics while better people use the data in order to improve our city."
ReplyDeleteChris, what you don't or won't understand is we do want to move the city forward. We just have different ideas of what is important. I have no problems with this series of conversations, but it is impossible for most of us to understand why the city is letting our infrastructure fail while throwing money to subsidized luxury housing and a fixed rail fair weather only nostalgia machine that duplicates several bus routes.
Many of us are frustrated by the extremely poor planning involved in what little infrastructure work gets done, a prime example of which is Wornall Road, which was redone nicely a couple of years ago only to be turned into a road only someone in Tajikistan could appreciate.
Or maybe we do understand and question how much of this spending and doing and undoing is graft.
Look at the poster ---- spelling---- annually.

ReplyDelete5:48: Unfortunately, that's what happens when prosecutors don't do their jobs on time. What a bunch of screw ups.
ReplyDeleteTo be black in America is to be in a CONSTANT STATE OF RAGE. Ask any black person if this is a true statement.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way to bridge to gap between whites and everybody else, especially black people.
Sorry, but this is the truth.
