TKC SUNDAY BREAK: TOO MANY BULLETS FOR KANSAS CITY B-CYCLE RIDING?!?!

As always our blog community is concerned with local hard news & politics. However, with primary week ahead and the midterm election season now in full swing . . . We want to remind our local blog community to take a break and work toward better health whilst enjoying the so-called Downtown Renaissance.

And so we ask . . .

HAVE TKC READERS TAKEN TIME TO RIDE A KANSAS CITY B-CYCLE THIS SUMMER??? OR HAS GUNFIRE AND DRIVER DANGER DISSUADED LOCALS FROM THIS TRANSIT TREND???

Despite more availability in KCMO . . . We can't help but notice fewer local B-Cycles in use during this violent Summer.

Recent promo video might help calm local nerves and offers an idyllic view of this town that doesn't necessarily match much more violent reality. Accordingly, here are some informative and entertaining clips of local middle-class denizens enjoying urban core cycling good times without helmets in a series of videos geared toward locals looking for August "staycation" ideas.

  1. But here's you're most important question TKC:

    Were the bikes bulletproof?

  2. Now they'll request police escorts for their bike riding excursions -- and they will get them! And we will pay the bill for these escorts.

  3. The bike riders have counterfeited the race card and added two zeros, with hard to believe success, in a temperate zone city.

  4. The money goes to gentrification.

    1. Lol! In part I agree wother that assessment but it seems like this is really about branding KC. Because KCMO funds this project, what they're really doing is taking money from neighborhood's and directing it toward people able to pay $2000 a month for rent. It's not exactly fair but I get it.

  7. Nobody is safe from colored boys with guns, you can’t walk, run, bike or drive your car without the threat of getting shot, gosh, if we only had a mayor, prosecutor and county executive who were tough on crime like they said they were we would be safe right now

  11. I have ridden my bike downtown many thousands of times over the years. The last time, in late April, I was approached at a stop light (I follow the rules of the road) by a thug telling me to give him my bike and backpack. I took off as fast as I could. The only thing that saved me was the guy's pants were sagging so far that they interfered with his naturally superior speed and athletic ability. I decided at that point that I wasn't risking my life for the love of bike riding downtown. No, I will stick to areas where there is a practically zero % chance of being approached by an obvious druggie looking to pawn my bike and possessions to support a drug habit (practically anywhere away from downtown and 18th & Vine). The actors in the promo videos are fake and were surrounded by thief-deterring crowd. Alone, they are ripe for theft.
