TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! GOP CONFRONTS KANSAS 3RD DISTRICT KNOCKOUT AT THE HANDS OF SHARICE DAVIDS IF THEY START TRUMPIAN BULLY CAMPAIGN RATHER THAN POLICY DEBATE!!!
The former MMA fighter and Native American lesbian Democratic challenger to Kansas Congressman Kevin Yoder seems like an easy target for political vitriol and that's not only the point of her candidacy but also a politically lethal trap set for hardliner Conservatives.
Sharice Davids isn't Hillary Clinton. She's younger, better looking and more captivating than Congressman Yoder. She doesn't seem scared by keyboard warriors. Sharice Davids clearly has more excitement around her campaign than the incumbent.
Even more interestingly, because all of American politics is now nothing more than a popularity contest audition for special interests . . . She's a more serious challenger than many right-wing pundits expected.
The kicker . . .
Trumpian intimidation tactics will only help to power the branding of this campaign predicated on a member of historically oppressed groups rising up to lead voters against hate.
Translation: Social media trolling Sharice Davids only helps to make the case for change against nasty detractors.
However . . .
The good news is that a real life policy debate about issues like wages, healthcare, and infrastructure etc. is the only way to keep the contest from becoming another ridiculous sideshow and actually focus on the issues that impact local voters.
But let's be real . . . That's not gonna happen.
Instead, we're already seeing nothing but hater dogwhistle politics and victim-culture self-righteous indignation less than a week into the contest.
We can only advise locals to do do the math . . . Rep. Yoder has always been a bit of a RINO and his early rhetoric regarding "values" simply employs identity politics Conservatives supposedly detest from a different angle. As the blue wave threatens the GOP across the nation, look closely at a failure to adapt and a one-trick bully strategy from the hardcore right-wing that threatens to undo the populist momentum that powered Prez Trump's rise to power.
And all of this inspires our favorite fighting songs for Saturday night . . .

DeleteHere's my thing: How is Yoder better, what has he done? Look at Johnson County and Wyandotte county. There is more crime, fewer jobs and a lot of businesses moving back to Kansas City. I don't see how his leadership is helping. You say talk about a policy debate like Sharice would lose but I think policy and leadership is exactly where Yoder is vulnerable. He's just going to talk about the stupid wall but that doesn't help people right here who need jobs now.
