TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CITY HALL INSIDER: DEFENDING PANHANDLING ORDINANCE WILL COST KANSAS CITY TAXPAYERS AT LEAST $100K TO START!!!
This week the effort to crackdown on panhandlers was widely celebrated by local motorists who have been inundated by aggressive Kansas City hobos desperately seeking cash.
However . . .
ALREADY LOCAL LEGAL EAGLES ARE READY TO CHALLENGE THE EFFORT THEY CLAIM THREATENS LOCAL 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHTS OF FREE ASSEMBLY!!!
It gets worse . . .
CITY HALL INSIDERS ARE UNDERMINING THE ORDINANCE AND WARNING COUNCIL OF THE PROHIBITIVE COST TO DEFEND THE MEASURE AGAINST INEVITABLE CHALLENGE!!!
A quick word from City Hall insiders . . .
"This ordinance is a loser and I'm pretty sure a response letter from the ACLU is already on the way. Furthermore, TEAM Sly is actually helping to undermine this one and we should hear soon from city legal that they aren't very excited about defending this one WHEN (not if) it's challenged . . ."
Like it or not . . . The rights of the homeless are rabidly defended by the legal community because restrictions often limit protests, neighborhoods and the civil rights of anybody walking local streets.
Recent examples . . .
CR: Federal Judge Blocks Sacramento’s ‘Aggressive Panhandling’ Ordinance
TC: Greensboro’s anti-panhandling ordinance comes under legal fire
Nola: Slidell pays ACLU $25,000 over defeated panhandling law
And so we ask our blog community . . .
SHOULD KCMO PAY BIG BUCKS TO CHALLENGE HOBO RIGHTS OR KEEP THE CASH?!?!
You decide . . .
Councilmember Loar did the right thing by doing something about the panhandlers. City Hall has not moral authority to talk about costs considering the money they have wasted. Better to do something than just let the problem get worse like the crime, streets and the sewers.
ReplyDeleteI read about another city who actually made it illegal to give them money. The challenge to that was harder because it targeted a transaction. If they didn't get money, they wouldn't wait there.
Delete^^^^^^ +1
DeleteIf you feel sorry for the homeless, give to an accredited charity. When you hand out money on the street it is going straight to drug dealers or the liquor store. The people who give them cash are the real problem. Whenever they do that, they are hurting KC!
More grandstanding and attention seeking from Teresa Loar. Her John TV violated US Constitution. Kay Barnes and others enabled this outrage of punishment before conviction of a crime. Star had no comment on Killa City rape of 8th Amendment. John TV was undercover policewomen soliciting men in party districts with lines such as "Do you want to party?" Teresa Loar pushed this to establish her credentials as a crime fighter. US Constitution be damned. John TV died quietly, but corrupt Teresa Loar continues to pollute the community.
ReplyDeleteNot true. John TV caught a US Attorney trying to fuck hookers under the bridge. Loar is the only good thing about Kansas City.
DeleteI cannot put a sign in my yard but panhandling is freedom of speech. Got it. Way to go CK!
ReplyDelete$100k would buy a lot of one-way bus tickets.
ReplyDeleteMake cardboard illegal. That should take care of the problem.
ReplyDeleteThought KCPD hired a bunch of useless social workers to work on social issue of the community.
ReplyDeleteAnother KCPD boon-dongle.
Like Shot-Caller
ReplyDeleteDemocrat greedy weasel trial lawyers looking to scam the taxpayers.
The Sacramento hobo that sued the city with the help of the state and of course the ACLU, has a sign asking for food. Ok, fair enough. However he specifies that it must be non-GMO food. Entitled bums, California has really taken it to a whole new level. Highest taxes in the country and the most dysfunctional state government in the land. I'm sure the liberal denizens of our cowtown community wouldn't want it any other way but to turn KC into a safe place for hobos to shoot up, harass, and steal. If you lament the closure of Beardsley Rd., due to their little shantytown partying, just wait. Have you been out west lately? Denver, Seattle, Portland, LA, and worst of all SFO have literal tent cities scattered all around town regardless of the values of surrounding property. Rents remain at an all time high in these places further contributing to the problem. KC is heading in the right direction and would be wise to try and nip it in the bud now before bums are camped along Tomahawk Creek along with the local racial killers. KC, what a great town.
ReplyDeleteLeave people alone. I've not had any of them approach my car. What harm do they do with signs asking for food, money, or whatever?
ReplyDeleteJust be grateful for what you have.
It's all bs they realized that it would stop the firefighters and Royals opening day newspaper
ReplyDelete25 million visitors to KC each year see all these panhandlers at the intersections if gives KC a bad name. I see the same ones all the time on the roads I travel.
ReplyDeletemaintainng security and civil order is the first function of government, not an optional one.
ReplyDeleteAgree with 1:04
ReplyDeletePanhandlers are definitely a stain on the city in the eyes of the 25 million anally visitors.
The $100K defending this would be money the developers did not get.
The food trucks are now forced to pay fees on top of "taxes" to "work" for their efforts to "profit". So, the beggars should pay a fee to park their butts with their signs wherever, get a tax id#, file the return, AND PICK UP THEIR CIG BUTTS, CANDY WRAPPERS, ENERGY DRINK CANS, SCHNAPPS FLASKS, ETC. AT THE END OF THEIR "SHIFTS"!
ReplyDeleteGood job persecuting the helpless Teresa! Your priorities are truly in line with our city's mission. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way. Did you havw anything to say about our crumbling infrastructure or ongoing murder problem? I'm sure you do, being such a visionary civic leader and all. :)
What a bunch of hypocritical scumbag liberals!lets take care of illegal aliens piece of shits but not our own homeless.
ReplyDeleteFUCK THAT LIBERAL DUMP AND THE DUMBFUCKS RUNNING IT INTO THE GROUND!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad we moved out of that shithole!
ReplyDeleteKEEP ELECTING ASS FUCK DEMS AND THAT DUMP GHETTO IS DONE!
ReplyDeleteDo you mean to tell us this shitty does not have attorneys on staff, or on retainer, who receive a regular paycheck? Why would they need outside legal assistance to defend this ordinance?
ReplyDeleteBecause @6:01, legal defense of the Ordinance would have to be based on competence, not on ethnic background.
ReplyDeleteNone of the staff hired by the City Attorney's Office meet that qualification.
This ordinance being created by the biggest panhandlers in Kansas City. Nobody stands more with their hands held out for money than a politician does.
ReplyDeleteWhat’s so hard about having the police enforce it, why should it cost anything, the cops are already getting paid to eat donuts
ReplyDelete...and this year in 4th grade you might be onto division and learning about shapes
DeleteHad them pest control candies. Word gets out nationally to stay clear of 'Ole KC.
ReplyDeleteHand them pest control candies. Word gets out nationally to stay clear of 'Ole KC.
ReplyDeleteMoney well spent. Panhandlers need to go.
ReplyDeleteJust charge them with trespassing on state and city right of ways! Ask the churches to stop feeding them on roads and bridges!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, J.W., you're an asshole.
ReplyDelete5:05, why do you pretend to be a gay man?
Your momma would be so proud of you.
You're going to need to raise taxes, so you can build a bigger jail.
Sly could get a panhandle tax going to pay for their new homeless lounge otherwise known as the new library.
