Show-Me Trickle Down Theory: Tax Breaks Help Po'Folk More Than Fair Wages???

Wages aren't growing in America despite the Prez Trump bull market . . . Supply side economics have been proven incorrect . . . However, that doesn't stop our favorite number-cruchers from advocating some sketchy economic theories and alternative economic financial perspective:

Should Missouri Increase the Minimum Wage to Help the Working Poor?

In Missouri, a single parent employed full time at a minimum wage job will still be in poverty. Some see this as justification for raising the minimum wage, on the grounds that no one who works full-time should be in poverty.

  1. The rich have been robbing this country for decades. The end of democratic capitalism is coming to its end. Revolution or civil war is on the horizons.

  2. Neither is going to happen. What will happen is you will have missed the boat again, and will suffer through a penurious old age, if you get that far.

  3. Trump's economic uplift is temporary. A crash is coming.

  4. ^^^ idiot, the tax breaks for us po folks is temporary, the only thing keeping it from being permanent is you guessed it, dummocraps

  5. if one looks around in kansas city or most other places in the usa, there is a shortage of skilled and unskilled labor.

anyway eatning the minimum wage should get a better job after they have a little experience.

  6. Temporary tax breaks don’t equal an increase in the minimum wage

  7. Trickle-down hasn't had a very successful history.
There was one time in recent history where a tax cut actually had a sustained positive effect on the economy as a whole, not just a benefit to the rich.
In 1961 JFK and a Democratic Congress put through a pretty substantial tax cut, and the Economy had steady growth for seven years, but there was a war going on as well, so some of the growth has to be credited to that. Since then, nada!

The theory that "a rising tide lifts all boats" sounds good, but somehow the richest boats always get lifted a lot higher, and the "Trickle down" part seems to be a description of the wealthy standing on their decks showering the blessings of Tax cuts on the rest of us.

"I'm a staunch Republican, and my back is wet, it must be raining!"

  9. 9:17 it’s called insider trading for us common folk but for the politicians it’s legal, that’s how they become filthy rich, there needs to be a law against politicians from benefiting from this “loop hole” I mean, how else does somebody like Nancy Pelops who makes 176 thousand dollars a year have 100 million dollars in the bank, just sayin

  12. The first post here is testimony to the ignorance of libtards. Eliminate the rich and you eliminate the folks who hire workers. Not all the rich inherited wealth. They worked hard, and built businesses requiring employees. That's what makes America great; the potential to improve one's life through sacrifice and hard work. Tax the "rich" to the point where they do not think it's worth it, and you'll "earn" a result you won't like. Learn a needed skill or obtain an education with a focus on "needed" knowledge, not gender fucking studies, and your efforts will pay off.

  13. 11:33 - So, the CEO of the publicly traded company who effectively pays much less in taxes as a % compared to middle class folks due to compensation in the form of stock options, etc. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this? Keep fighting over those crumbs while these guys take all the cookies.

I know plenty of people who own small businesses, these aren't lucrative jobs unless you own the place. There's nothing wrong with that but don't sit here and bullshit us with "they won't hire anyone". You know what these guys do with tax cuts, take a family trip to the Bahamas. Not hire more people or pass savings along to their employees in the form of raises. The Kansas experiment proved all that. The spenders are the middle class and the largest effective tax cuts should be there.

  14. ^^^The top 1% of income earners pay about 40% of total income taxes. The bottom 90% pay less than 30%. The bottom 50% pay about 3%.

So your post is baloney. The US has a very progressive income tax system. By far, the tax burden falls mostly on higher income individuals, and lower income individuals pay little to nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes and the top 1% of income earners take in over 85% of the Income , not including bonuses and benefits not available to anyone else.
Trump pays out of Social Security at 12:01:13 every January 1st.

I'll be happy with a flat rate tax -the US Treasury does calculate each year a "flat rate" (it's available, but hard to find on their website, not announced or advertised at all)hat defines "income" as "monies received from all sources", and calculates the percentage that would be needed to equal the entire amount collected annually in Federal plus State plus Local Taxes of all kinds.
That percentage for 2016 (the latest available) is 7.834%

If we would create a 10% flat tax on each dollar received and then distribute it, all governmental bodies would get an increase in revenues, and, if you total up the Income, Property and Sales taxes you now pay, you might well see an increase too.

Of course, the wealthy and their flunkys in Congress might lose a few goodies that way, so dat nebbah hatchee.

  16. Less taxation on middle class and poor is much healthier than raising the minimum wage since raising the minimum wage creates barriers for small businesses and leads to less jobs

    ReplyDelete
  17. So, when we cut taxes on the poor do we also proportionatley cut welfare programs? If not, how does the government make up the loss in income unless they just want to keep increasing taxes on the middle and upper classes?

The poor want to have their cake and eat it too. They are allways saying give me more and more but dont you dare make me pay any taxes (plus in KC, you better not evict me or shut off my utilities if I cant afford to pay them, however, you need to tax the rich to pay for my fatherless kid's education and repairs to my home/rental and dont forget about the free pizza parties paid for by the mayors office).

  18. 9:25 - You do realize when you factor in sales taxes and other "non-income" driven taxes that those in the lower and middle classes pay every day, they pay a MUCH higher percentage than high income earners? It's actually quite regressive.
