SHOCK!!! STALLED KANSAS CITY NEW AIRPORT REVEALS SKETCHES DEPICTING BETTER TOILETS BUT FEWER AMENITIES AS $1.3 BILLION COST CLIMBS!!!
The new airport designs actually don't show much but a STALLED construction process and very little progress one year after voters approved tearing down the old facility.
Kansas Citians had been waiting patiently to see what the new $1.3 billion terminal will look like . . . And for the most part they still don't know.
Sadly, what we do see from the inside is that plans for a huge fountain in the main atrium have changed and overall everything looks a lot smaller.
Even more worrisome are scant details about alleged "better check-ins" - The main selling point of the new facility . . . New drawings of updated and allegedly more efficient gates didn't make the cut for public review. Even the hotly debated shopping/retail competent is unseen.
The constant refrain from politicos is that none of this is costing KCMO taxpayers anything and that's absolutely false . . . Over the past year, construction and prep for these improvements have been siphoned out of the general fund along with a fortune in consulting fees equaling millions of dollars. Frequent travelers might also notice higher ticket prices.
The answer to these criticisms: TKC is blocked on the KCI wifi despite the pr0n they sell at the newsstands.
This was reported as news today but it's more like PROPAGANDA attempting to spin a giant disappointment and confirmation that warnings about construction delays and empty promises were correct.

And so we ask . . . Is this better or worse than a far less expensive and quicker remodel???
You decide . . .
New airport is gonna be awesome. I'll see you at the groundbreaking where I'll be driving my luxury car and you'll be driving an Uber.
ReplyDeleteSee you there. Don’t forget to wipe the cum off your chin, homo.
DeleteSounds kind of second-rate already. Probably going to get worse.
ReplyDeleteHow much of it is being built by minority or women owned businesses? Just curious, I would think it should be over 65%.
ReplyDeleteMake it world class. We want our 25 million tourists to be impressed. I can just imagine them spreading the word...”I took a dump in the most beautiful crapper in the world in KCI. I think I want to move there. “
ReplyDeleteI don’t care about the toilets. It would be jive if there was a cool bar to pick up hot sluts
ReplyDeleteAnd then they can build the Streetcar extension to the airport that will run on North Oak Trafficway and take two hours to reach downtown unless it's raining and then it will be delayed and you'll miss your flight.
ReplyDelete656, and hope the entire line isn't stopped by a single parked car over the white line.
DeleteJustus was on the local television news touting the fact that the direction that the "bathroom stall doors would open" was her latest great accomplishment on the project.
ReplyDeleteYou really can't make this stuff up.
Amateur night on the plains.
And all for only $1.6 billion (and counting).
And this is why I don't live in KCMO - Sly and the council, just like Cleaver and his cronies, council folks put this crap in front of the voters promising the world and look what happens!!
ReplyDeleteThe costs of this are blowing up and you can bet the taxpayers will get screwed!!
The taxpayers and whoever buys tickets will get screwed, sad that in most cases this will be a double whammy for travelers
ReplyDelete6:30 don’t worry sLIE, you won’t be needed at the ground breaking or the grand opening, sorry but not sorry, this goes for Go4kc because he will be out of a job by then
ReplyDeleteBy the way, didn’t Chris aka Go4kc have a job in the news where he went after the con artists? What a 180 this guy has made, now he covers up for the con artists!
ReplyDeleteTypical. Delays and cost overruns. Hopefully they have gender neutral bathrooms to stand in solidarity with people who cant tell what gender they are. (gender confusion disorder) GCD
ReplyDeleteEventually, when the costs hits $3 billion with little to show for it, the city will approve a startling new design.
ReplyDeleteAfter construction is complete, it will be revealed that architects dug into the archives and simply copied the original floor plan of Metcalf South.
I guess it could be fun hanging out at Spencer's Gifts while waiting for the limited flights, glazing out at the black-light posters along with all the TSA folks who are goldbricking
I think the streetcar should run right up to it..... That way everybody could park downtown.
ReplyDelete8:51 thats a good one
ReplyDeleteThe new airport has boondoggle written all over it. The damn thing is, the airport we have now is a dump and he really do need a new airport. But it's still going to be a boondoggle.
ReplyDeleteWill there be a shooting range and gun rentals for visitors safety ?
ReplyDeletesave kci!
ReplyDeleteremodel it.
In place of the fountain, there will be a neon sign touting, "Welcome To Sly James Anal International!"
ReplyDeleteHumpin' To Please
KCMO: Fill Your Void Here
Projected cost = $1 billion
Completed cost = $3 billion
Price for tickets, parking, merchandise, food and drink = More
Increase in terminal space = None
Increase in number of gates = None
Increase in citizen satisfaction score = None
Millions spent on consultants, contractors, Friends of Sly and Troy = Priceless
The city seems obsessed with public rest rooms.
ReplyDeleteCost increase is why Slie is pushing the Pre K sales tax. The narrative that the new airport will cost KCO residents noting is a nuthin burger.
ReplyDeleteIn case Go4KC missed the posts, previously there were several solutions on TKC for remodeling the old airport and making it world class for less money. Obviously those solutions did not meet city hall narrative.
@8:51 has posted a viable solution.
Welcome to Fantasy Land
ReplyDeleteI'm all for a new airport but the way this is going down is just a dumpster fire.
ReplyDeleteLet me make sure I understand this....Over a year after this project was voted on we have "sketches" and paper airplanes. Wow! and the price has gone up 50%? And the end of this project has been moved over a year out from the original estimate? Sounds like KC has only the best people working on this.
ReplyDeleteSo basically we're spending over a billion dollars to have some better bathrooms.
