Since Wednesday, there have been 24 people shot and 5 homicides in Kansas City. Overnight police working 5 shootings.
Early reports indicate two more homicides overnight as well . . .
Preliminary deets of the mass shooting:
"Six people were shot early Sunday morning near 18th Street and Highland Avenue. According to the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department, none of the injuries are considered life-threatening at this time . . . Two victims showed up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. Four others remained at the scene of the shooting and were taken to a different trauma center for treatment.."
This morning there was also a STANDOFF underway at 59th & Swope.
Homicide report confirmation:
"At about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, police received a call from a woman near 89th Street and Troost Avenue who said she had been shot. Officers patrolling in the area had heard the shots and searched the area. Then, they found the woman in a vehicle in a parking lot in the 1300 block of E. 89th Avenue. The woman was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel."
Second fatality last night:
"Officers were called to a medical nature unknown call in the 10700 block of Greenwood, where they found a black female midblock in the street unresponsive. EMS crews declared the woman dead."
