Community reaction to one of many light sentences following a deadly crash crash . . .
Checkit:
Fox4KC: Family doesn’t understand ‘soft sentence’ for driver who killed Kansas City cyclist
Prosecutor: Sentenced pursuant to Missouri statute 559.115 that allows for release if he successfully completes 120 days in prison. He will then be on probation for 5 years. If he fails probation, he faces completion of the 7-year sentence.
KSHB: Bike Walk KC Policy Coordinator Michael Kelley said the decision was "woefully inadequate,” saying more needs to be done to protect those like Saluto.
You decide . . .
The fact that Lasala was on drugs is irrelevant unless the drugs somehow caused the crash. I don't recall the circumstances of this event. What part if any did the drugs play?
ReplyDeletegotdam cyclist ride like they own the road they need to ride in the getto where walking and stoping in the middle of the road is common with no regaurd for cars or trucks
ReplyDeleteThe cyclist should have been more careful. These jerks cut into traffic, flip people off, and act frigging entitled.
ReplyDeleteDrunks hit people all the time so why is it special just because the victim was on a bike? The sentence is a little light I think but is what it is so deal with it.
ReplyDeleteAs for the bike riders on the roads till they have to obey the same laws as a motorcycle I say fuck them and they deserve limited say so.
