Kansas City Council Dude Scott Taylor's 'Revive The East Side' Dead On Arrival?!?

Silly season economic incentive slate that basically uses taxpayer cash to campaign . . . Check the legit push back:

Initiative To 'Revive The East Side' Gets Mixed Reviews At First Public Hearing

A sweeping proposal to revive the eastern side of Kansas City, Missouri, received support and skepticism from neighbors Wednesday at a public hearing. The "Revive the East Side" initiative, sponsored by 6th district councilman and 2019 mayoral candidate Scott Taylor, would, among other things, establish a $10 million home improvement fund, create tax credits to encourage hiring workers who live in high unemployment areas, improve trash collection and "protect long-time residents against gentrification."

  1. This is the area that Slie's East Side tax was supposed to support. What has Slie done with the millions in East Side tax money already collected?

  2. ^^I don't know. Did you call him and ask him? Why not? Why are you asking on here? Are you retarded? You must not really care in the least, because you failed to ask him. So quit wasting everyone's time. Go away and find something else to complain about. Don't come back here unless you do your homework first. Fucking moron.

  3. I think we should close down the east side.

Move all of its residents to the neighborhoods of the liberal upper middle-class/affluent out in burbs because they seem to stand up for them and support their 'causes' more than anyone else.

  4. ^^^Yes good idea. Then after that, we have to move all of the old people out of their homes and into internment camps. After all, nobody really likes living among them. This way they can be among their own kind and can blather among themselves all day without boring the rest of us to tears.

  8. I thought letting your house fall into desepair was a city code violation (i.e. peeling paint, broken windows, unkept lawns). Apparently though, if you live on the eastside its no violation and instead the coty will actually pay to rehab it. How does this not just encourage more people on the eastside to neglect their property (if they even own their home) because uncle sam will just come along and bail them out.

Taylor is just pandering for votes and its sad how clearly obvious it is.

  9. City codes are a joke. A code/ordinance/law is only as good as its' enforcement. No penalty for ignoring it, so......

    1. Thats not the point. The point is that Taylor wants to use taxpayer money to pay people who are directly violating city code. How about a tax that goes to people who actually maintain their property and contribute to society?

  10. Funny how eastsiders want this but dont want an increased sales tax. Instead, they are pushing a property taxe so that the nicer neighborhoods will pay for improvements to the eastside.

When we the council wake-up and realize how much they are being played a fool? These people are saying to take from the "rich" (via property taxez) and give to people for no other reason than that they cannot afford/too lazy to maintain their property. Socialism at its finest.

  11. And then once the homes are repaired, the east side will yell about their property taxes going up because of the improvements and/or cry about gentrification. Liberals never run out of things to complain about.

Also, I bet they argue for only M/WBE companies complete the repairs becuase the money needs to not only be spent to repair homes of minorities but also be paid to minority companies only.

  12. The home in the photo is off to a good start. Only missing the bullet proof glass inserts for the fence.
