More than two decades after New York launched an annual music festival to honor the Kansas City icon who propelled jazz into a modern era - that'd be Charlie Parker - the group KC Jazz Alive organized its first celebration of the man.
I wish Charlie Parker's widow had respected his deathbed wish to be buried "anyplace but in Kansas City", then the 18th & Vine District could has truly influenced have been dedicated to honoring someone who he African American Culture in this Town, such Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry!
