Jackson County Exec Frank White And Status Quo Stays Winning With A Few Exceptions

Biz as usual dominated Jackson County elections amid a few significant surprises . . .

The Examiner offers the best overview: New faces coming to County Legislature as primaries narrow field

Big upset . . .

"In the 1st At-large District, which includes portions of Independence and Blue Springs, plus Grain Valley, Oak Grove, Buckner, Sibley, Levasy, Sugar Creek and portions of Kansas City east of Raytown, Jalen Anderson handily defeated Sherwood Smith."

And no, that's not TKC . . . Mr. Anderson is probably younger, obviously much more friendly and slimmer than KC's least favorite blogger. However, his win is a BIG DEAL in the continued decline of longtime political power brokers and insiders tell us that fire dude insider Sherwood Smith's defeat signals that he's growing a bit disenchanted with the local political grind . . . Not that anybody can blame him.

A few more highlights . . .

The TKC blog community probably was the deciding factor in the defeat of Paul Wrabec.

Tony Miller squeaking by Roberta Gough was surprising given that he is backed by some of the biggest law firms in Kansas City and she ran on a shoe-string budget that is probably less than Miller's lunch money.

Similarly . . .

Matt Merryman garnered 21 percent of the vote in a campaign that only consisted of yard signs and social media videos.

Admittedly, the victory was decisive but there is more Jackson County antipathy toward Mr. White than what is being reported in MSM.

Either way, this vote sets the stage for more fighting betwixt the Legislator and the Exec as the jail remains in crisis and political tensions worsen . . .

Tony, sweetheart, why do you say you're Kansas City's "least favorite blogger" ? You know you're MY favorite !

  2. I will never understand how Frank could win after the drama around the JAXCO courthouse and personal money fails.

  3. 11:02 Helps when The Star essentially declares a news blackout on all the crap going on in Jackson County in the weeks leading up to the election. But I'm guessing the state auditor or attorney general brings Frank White down. He can't survive a legit investigaton. He's just going to grab as much taxpayer money as he can before they drop the hammer on him.
