KC man charged in fatal vehicular crash in Northeast area: Man killed by driver fleeing from police had gone out to get ice cream for girlfriend’s kids



A Kansas City man has been charged with causing a fatal vehicular accident after he fled Saturday night from police at a high speed through residential streets in Northeast Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

According to court records, police attempted to stop the Toyota that Delozier was driving near St. John and Van Brunt. But the defendant refused to stop. He fled at a high rate of speed, running stop signs and driving the wrong way on one-way streets, until he struck the victim's vehicle near Smart and Monroe. The vicitm, Thomas Colatrella, dob: 5/4/1986, later died of injuries from the vehicular crash.

Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 cash.

  6. Please STOP chasing these guys through the neighborhoods where EVERYONE is put at risk. It's bad enough when they fly by you on the highways chasing some loser who ran a stop sign. Yes, they did break the law, but is it worth risking lives to catch the crooks? Figure out a way to track these people without the "great California car chases".
