There are 150 days until Christmas and any longtime resident of Kansas City knows that this town usually stops caring about anything but shopping & food about 2 days before Thanksgiving.
More important than anything else in this post, even Miley's consistently captivating twerking and ultimate social media regret, we'd like to highlight and share info about a few local organizations that need help throughout the year and do AMAZING work that benefits just about everybody in KCMO.
Operation Breakthrough serves youngsters every day.
The Kansas City Zoo is asking for July X-mas help.
Connecting for Good helps all of KCMO bridge the digital divide.
And beyond hype over midterms, for our late, late night and/or early morning visitors we ask:
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE KANSAS CITY ACCOMPLISH BEFORE X-MAS?!?!

Here's a reason for hope in the middle of the year . . .
- More locals are voicing their frustrations regarding city services.
- Despite consistently high violent crime in Kansas City, the murder count is still below last year's pace . . . For now.
- Midterm election talk has locals making demands and asking serious questions of hopeful politicos.
And so, unlike X-mas hype . . . Our TKC Christmas in July focuses on push back and voter engagement rather than just partaking in a weird quasi-religious celebration of consumerism.
And all of this inspires our playlist tonight . . .
As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night . . .
Just pick up the trash.
ReplyDeleteDon't have really high expectations for KC.
Just pick up the trash. That's the only thing we should be able to demand with so many taxes and rising fees. Just make sure the streets are relatively clean. Look around and you'll see that we can't even get that done.
KC needs to plan it's construction better, the highway delays and so many blocked streets show us that City Hall doesn't really know what it's doing.
DeleteA Christmas in July wishlist. I wash somebody would really help the homeless. The handouts seems to be making them even more angry.
DeleteNorthland deannexation NOW!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a wish but a necessity to keep Kansas City from going bankrupt. Please come up with a real plan for the airport and not just more delays. The pace that we're on now is totally unacceptable.
ReplyDeleteSlies resignation in a bow tie laced stocking.
ReplyDeleteAll i want for Christmas is more police on KC streets.
ReplyDeletePlan to immediately start fixing the failed infrastructure.
ReplyDeleteImmediately pick up the trash and bio hazard.
Agree with 11:11 and 12:59.
Immediately ditch the new airport plan and initiate a plan to refurbish the existing airport. Planned obsolescence of the existing airport by the city is not acceptable form of government.
You cant fix killa shitty, it’s toast, stick a fork in it, it’s done, cooked, burnt to a crisp, adios, kaput, over and out with. Thanks to the most incompetent mayor, city manager and city council they have suffered the worst man made disaster ever witnessed by man. You used to be able to look up to kc and say wow, I wouldn’t mind living there one day but now, thanks to a black mayor and his black people, they’ve destroyed the town I once looksd forward to visiting, no more I’m done with it. All good things get destroyed by the blacks, every single one of them.
