TKC MUST SEE!!! HAS PREZ TRUMP STOPED THE KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR EXTENSION BEFORE IT STARTED?!?!

Never mind that toy train funding from the current administration doesn't seem to be much of a priority.

Here's the latest bit of bad news for the future of local rail transit that smarter readers have mentioned recently now reported by the local trade mag . . .

KC Biz Journal: Steel tariffs could lead to bigger price tag for KC's streetcar extensions

Deets:

"The rising cost of steel could affect expansions costs for the Kansas City streetcar. The price of steel has jumped nearly 40 percent since January, with the imposition of 25 percent tariffs on steel imports in March and June."

To be fair, we must mention that ridership is back on the upswing for the Summer.

Kansas City streetcar passenger trips earned a slight uptick to 223,877 vs. 217,129 this year over last for June.

Still, what's clear is that this legacy of Prez Obama has yet to earn a lot of love from the Feds during the Prez Trump era.

  1. It works, it's energy efficient and locals support it? Of course President Trump would be against it!

    1. ^^^ Brainwashed libtard. The President has bigger fish to fry than handing out graft to locals. He's obviously making the right move by ignoring KC on this.

    2. T, want to think you for at least mentioning one positive aspect of the streetcar. I'd like to see more fairness but that is a step forward that you listed one of the many achievements that streetcar continues to accomplish.

As far as the streetcar goes, I think we will soon see federal funding because the city is so united behind the streetcar and we all want to see KC keep the momentum we have going. Every month we're seeing more jobs created, more revenue coming in the city and more tourists. President Trump says he is for making good deals, then funding the streetcar fully would give him the best opportunity he has seen since taking office. There is already a proven track record of success and we're ready to keep on building. It's a win/win and something we should all support!

    3. Go4KC, I'd suggest you be ashamed but I'm not sure you know the word.

The current Mayor is our local Nero, not our local hero. He's been servicing developers with tax incentives and sweetheart finance while serious issues that actually impact our community go unresolved or unaddressed. He eats while blood flows in the streets.

He has done absolutely nothing to address crime. He has done nothing meaningful to address infrastructure. When there's good news, he's there for the cameras; when one asks about crime, schools, or infrastructure he gets a little testy.

The streetcar has been a farce since its inception. Where would one begin? The rigged elections, the expensive junkets to Spain, the vague plans, bullying tactics, or total lack of revenue stream?

You are a liar, you represent corruption, and you are paid to represent a swindler.

      Shame. Look it up.

    4. Well said, 2:41. Go4KC is nothing more than a puppet that thinks he’s far more important than he really is. If you care to play a drinking game, throw back a shot every time he uses the word “momentum.” Of his handful of regurgitated terms, it seems to be his favorite. His type knows they can’t afford or hack it in a “real” city, so they do everything they can to pretend KC is an urban mecca for both the immediate area and a grotesquely inflated number of tourists. Hopefully sLie has his hand far enough up Go4KC’s skirt that he’ll take him with him when he leaves office.

It only works when it's not raining or snowing, and the last time Kansas Citians had the opportunity to vote on the toot toot it failed 70-30. But keep telling yourself how wonderful it is.

  3. For once (Who'd a Thunk it!), Go4KC got something right!
The vast majority of Kansas City IS united in its opinion of the Streetcar, but unfortunately it's not the opinion City Hall wants it to be.

  4. Hey GO4KC, when are they going to start charging for rides on the streetcar? The money will give us real numbers on ridership. Then we can make better choices about expanding. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Streetcar proponents don't care about the costs. They'll get it built no matter what it costs. Who cares about silly things like taxes?

    ReplyDelete
  6. The only Federal and State Funding will be for AMTRAK. They must maintain a safe rail system.

  7. But shouldn't the rise in steel be O.K. with all of those 25 million tourists?
Just think of the revenue the city is taking in this summer. Everything should just be fine, after all liberals know what's best. RIGHT RIGHT?? Oh I'm so sorry I didn't mean to shout.

Go4KC I agree with the other poster Trump has bigger fish to fry! So I think you should pay!

  8. There's no way those ridership numbers are real. Think about it. Who are those riders? 6,000 a day on a two-mile loop? Those numbers are as inflated as the crowd count at the Royals celebration party a couple of years ago.

  9. ^^There's no way your conclusions are real! Think about it: Who are you? Just another complaining asshole. Your conclusions are as inflated as your waist!

  10. It's a marketing gimmick, nothing else. Sure, it's free transportation for a handful of higher income folks who live in the Crossroads. Great. Just what we need, more subsidies and govt spending to support affluent people.

    ReplyDelete
  11. trump is a born new yorker. he doesn't even know that we don't have good common transportation, he assumes we do.

the streetcar is a minor matter, however: we need the maglev train to columbia and st. louis. it would energize missouri.

maybe hawley can lobby trump for maglev on campaign stops this fall.

  15. Are the streetcar ridership numbers accurate? Who would know if it's correct? It's not like they're taking tickets.

  16. The premise of the article is abstruse.

  17. The city is united against the streetcar. That's why there will not be a citywide vote on it because it would not only lose, but be thoroughly blown the fuck out

    ReplyDelete
  18. Finally, Trump has done a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Go4KC said, “... the city is so united behind the streetcar.” What planet is that idiot from? Everything time there has been a fair & honest citywide vote, the streetcar loses by a wide margin.

    ReplyDelete
  20. To bad the City Council didn't take the advice to go with streetcars at the start instead of Light Rail it would of been done by now . So hard heads just never learn to give the people want they want .

  24. Go4KC is more delusional than ever. He has probably seen Slie walk across the downtown street naked and the sight of that would drive anybody sane. Sure is sad when the so called leaders of KCMO do not abide by a legitimate vote on the toy train and do not listen to the citizens of KCMO.
When KCMO starts charging for the toy train everybody will see how bad it is.

  26. ^^^ 9:42 nails it.

Such a damn shame that all of these consultants want to represent themselves and real voters and people when they're just getting paid to support the streetcar.

I know people who do like the streetcar but they aren't doing promotion, they talk about the ways it helps them. This constant hype and buzzwords doesn't do anybody any good.

  27. Good for Trump. Looks like he saved KC some money.
