Sorry, we should start this by admitting that our TKC blog community has a penchant for jokes and Independents.
In his latest advert for the Kansas Governor's race, Greg Orman clowns both Republican & Democrats.
Amid an increasingly divisive public American discourse, the advert is smart and speaks to a growing level of frustration among so many Kansans who are dissatisfied with leadership on education and the economy but may not be ready to jump ship to the other side just yet.
Even better, the ad has saturated social media over the weekend and features a nice little joke at a time when flyover country politicos are taking themselves far too seriously.
And speaking of humorless partisan hacks . . .
The right-wing always lashes out against Mr. Orman as a Democratic Party denizen in disguise but that's a claim that's harder to make as Democratic Party hopefuls are bringing celebrity socialists into the Heartland in order to drum up support.
Greg Orman might be the only viable contender against the Republican candidate given that the Kansas Democratic Party seem to be stupidly campaigning on gun control and higher taxes whilst pretty much conceding the upcoming contest.
Developing . . .
This guy is a bigger jackass now then he was before
ReplyDeleteOrman just wants to be a politician. Nobody can ever get a list of specific things he would do. It’s always the system is broken and I’ll fix it. Just like last time he ran.
ReplyDeleteJosh Svaty isn’t too bad. Pro life, open to medical marijuana and lowering grocery tax, and he’s not a weirdo dem. I typically vote republican but Kansas republicans have lost me.
Don't see how @7:40 can be correct, the "Back to Back Brothers" (Brown and Ko) cornered the market on Jackassery long ago.
ReplyDeleteIf they have never had political experience they don't get my vote. If they are named Kobach, they don't get my vote. If they are not college graduates and have some real life experience they don't get my vote. If they are Socialists they don't get my vote.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what they are against, I care what they are for. I don't care what color, religion or gender identity is but don't rub my face in what it is.
I want to know what they hope to accomplish. I want to know what they are passionate about.
They have to have won at least one prior election to a real job before I will vote for them being any higher than a city council person.
The Orman furniture store in Stanley is having its 33rd going out of business sale. Might have a meet and greet there along with a sign up to win a door prize. Might find a good deal on a politico couch.
ReplyDeleteOrman is just another fruitless exercise in over-developed ego.
ReplyDeleteHe and Jason Pander should compare notes.
And, whoever the Republican candidate ends up being, Orman will surely siphon off enough votes to ensure that the Democratic candidate loses.
Not that they need any help losing.
It's Kansas, after all.
Government as entertainment.
What could possibly go wrong?
GREG ORMAN FOR GOVERNOR, BECAUSE HE'S PURPLE!
ReplyDeleteTired of Red,
Tired of Blue,
Ready for a Governor
With a new kind of hue?
Greg Orman is a smart businessman for sure, but he's given political donations to Hillary Clinton, Obama, Harry Reid, Al Franken, etc.
Orman should scare all Kansasans, look at who has donated to campaign(s) and his following is not that great. He comes across kinda creepy in his ads now as he did previously in his campaign.
ReplyDeleteOrman is a Democrat. Who is he kidding?
ReplyDeleteHis Dad should have kept the furniture store. Those were some funny commercials.

ReplyDeleteDon't listen to him Orman is a bleeding heart liberal, today you can't be in the middle.
As a citizen, I find the deprecating comments on Greg Orman posted to "anonymous" to be cowardly. I assume it's to avoid the kind of personal criticism that they want to heap on candidates who come forward seeking solutions to problems.
ReplyDeleteI doubt any poster has met him, talked with him or shared their vision with him. The candidate puts his vision out there and many people can only be critical. I've always asked that those who point out problems also point out the solution and how they...personally...are going to be part of that solution.
The campaign is a marathon that's about to get started seriously after the duopoly decides...at public expense...the legacy party candidates. Greg has published his first of 8 position papers/proposals. Pay attention and the true caliber of the candidates will show through.
Greg Orman IS the best candidate for governor of the great State of Kansas!
One further thought: What's to keep "anonymous" from being 2 people posting 11 comments?
ReplyDeleteThe Dems are in high pitch mode nattering about siphoning off "their" votes. It's the height of hubris to think of the public's votes as automatically "theirs"! One Democratic state party official has been particularly shrill but never includes his political position as part of his authorship.
Beware the positioning and pay attention to the arguments on policy. Dig deeper and pay little attention to sound bites and party babble.
