TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! JACKSON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE LAUNCH LAWSUIT AGAINST COURTHOUSE OVER SHERIFF FORTÉ APPOINTMENT!!!

Summer fighting over local elections has kicked into high gear and tonight we're featuring an important bit of inside baseball which has larger implications.

To wit . . .

JACKSON COUNTY DEMOCRATS QUESTION THE SHERIFF'S APPOINTMENT AND OFFER AN EXTENSIVE RULE CHECK!!!

We won't pretend to completely understand any of it and question any newsie who claims expertise. Still, it's important to consider election season gamesmanship underway.

And so . . .

Here's an EXCLUSIVE look at the Sheriff's appointment complaint and important election season challenge.

The money line from the case according to our legal eagle friends about what the Jackson County Democratic Committee really wants . . . The highlight is the crux of it

"Jackson County government officials are without legal authority to open or reopen a candidate filing period when a vacancy in the Office Of Sheriff is not created by the death, withdrawal or disqualification of any incumbent or any candidate who has filed a declaration of candidacy for said office: enter judgement declaring that when a vacancy in the office of Sheriff is created due to resignation of the incumbent Sheriff on a date after the filing deadline for any primary election but prior to the next general election, the party nominating committee may select a party candidate for election to the office; and for any further relief the Court deems necessary."

Basically, this is an argument about protocol and, strangely, a debate with Exec Frank White's appointment . . . More on that some time tomorrow. And no, it probably isn't going anywhere . . . Thankfully, we were able to get just a bit of help with the dox and insider perspective from our blog community.

Now . . .

Does this put the reign of Sheriff Forté in doubt and risk his chances to keep the office???

Probably not. But the complaint continues to move forward and offers perspective on political maneuvers which persist at 12th & Oak.

Obviously, we welcome any insight from our readers . . .

  3. Now the right of the Democrats is trying to chew the same tail the left is well on its way to swallowing. Where's an adult when you need one ?

  4. A long protracted court case means a lot of overtime for Forte, not a penny of which will be well spent. If he was white, he would never have been given 30 seconds of consideration for the job.

  5. ^^^ did you notice the one qualified white guy didn’t make the top 3?

  6. Well this is Jackson County and Kansas City....might as well be Detroit or Newark. Corruption is the hallmark of this local government. If you haven't moved out yet, you still have about 1 more year.

  7. All twelve applicants should have been interviewed but weren’t so the process was rigged from the start. Sharp wanted his boy Rogers interviewed and Crystal wanted a women so they interviewed a female. Forte was chosen by the state Democratic leader to be interviewed. The whole process was corrupt.

  8. It would be great is this were a disagreement over how to provide the best services to the residents of Jackson County.
    But of course, it's not.
Instead it's the usual argument over who gets to put their snout in the public trough.
    Business as usual.
And the pigs aren't any less filthy in the courtroom than they were in the sty.
