  1. Thank God.

What was really horrible is how the poor kid's blood was on it for a couple of days after he was killed.

It's about time. This monstrosity was giving decapitation a bad reputation.

  8. The ground will make a nice parking lot for the new gun range that opened next to Schlitterbahn. There might be enough area left over for a nice car dealership.
Bet the government officials that approved this park are feeling very good right now. There way of thinking is no price is too high for development, building momentum and moving the area forward.

  9. Schlitterbahn most likely won't last too many more seasons.
It wasn't all that much to begin with and the terrible publicity, legal costs, and delayed opening of many rides caused by this tragedy have certainly accelerated its demise.
Of course, in KCK they'll just go the the government just like the T-Bones did, and the taxpayers will pay to keep them open.
Just the Wyandotte version of the KCMO P&L District.
Publicly-funded amusement parks as far as the eye can see.
    And grocery stores!
Got a big big idea and no money?
    Come on down!

  13. The boy suffered massive trauma but he wasn't "Decapitated" in the usual sense of the word. The injury is sometimes called "Internal Decapitation" but doctors don't call it that. They call it "Atlanto-occipital Dislocation." Means that the ligaments that attach your head to your spine are stretched and torn. Without enough internal support to hold up your head your head can flop down & brain stem can be damaged. Catastrophic. - This is why after an accident you need to help victims to NOT MOVE THEIR HEAD AT ALL until rescuers can strap them safely onto backboard. You can't see the extent of internal injuries, so assume the worst to be safe. I knew a guy who had this kind of injury. He had to wear a big metal "halo" around his head for a long time. Held by big screws, pretty scary looking. He was fortunate and was one of the only 30% who recover

    1. Occipital dislocation killed Earnhardt at Daytona. Soft Airplane crashes are another cause, that's why military planes have rearward facing sesting. Wear your seat belt and slow down. Speed increases the risk of this injury. Human bodies were not designed for the speeds seen today.

  15. And you, 5:47, what kind of retribution would you want for your child?

  16. 11:40, your statement is in direct contradiction to the police who were on site. The head was decapitated, fully, and stuck in the net, while the rest of the body was many feet below, on the pavement.

Now if you have some other information, please share it, because that has never been reported, anywhere, by anyone.

The area was cordoned off, including the airspace above it, to prevent news helicopters or drones, from reporting it.

The mother was so traumatized, the police reported she did not "notice" that her son's head was not attached.

The Schlitterbahn legal cases are winding their way through the courts. I suspect the slide itself will not be removed until after the August primary election, thus assuring Attorney General Derek Schmidt of re-election, since the trial of the designer/owner is scheduled in September or October.

And, of course, the KCK UG government and their Gang of Five design review committee, which actually designed and mandated the net and hoop "safety system" that served as the guillotine, will never be charged. But should have been. Shame on them.
