While this young lady seemingly left herself open to hardcore social media trolling, her comments weren't any more brash than what any late night comedian or Oscar winning actor has said.
And so we ask . . .
IS PROTESTING PREZ TRUMP CAUSE FOR TERMINATION???
Think about the big picture here . . . Yeah, it feels great to fire people and it was the catchphrase of the current Prez back when he was a game show host. But firing workers over their politics probably doesn't qualify as effective management in any endeavor and will inevitably backfire on any employer.
Nevertheless . . . And because we all could use a laugh regarding the managerial advice of the TKC blog community . . .

If you work for the city you can’t politic for anybody on company time if you do you will be fired, it’s a good policy, they may have changed the rule about political signs in your yards I think you can have them now
ReplyDeleteIf I encounter someone on a city street or in a bank or store wearing a mask I would call the police because I would see it as a possible threat. Why? Because I have common sense. If I was your employer and found out you were stopped because you wore a mask in public I would fire you for being a determent to my business and being stupid.
ReplyDeleteTake a vacation day and protest away. Depends on your job too. If you're in sales, probably best not to do it or good chance you're going to get canned. If you're back office, good chance no one even notices. Common sense folks.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, the woman should be fired if she was supposed to be at work. That could happen whether or not she disliked Trump. Second, most business owners don't want any hassles about politics mixed up with their businesses. That makes sense. Also, a customer certainly has the right to decide not to patronize a particular business because of the political positions of the business or its employees. I don't patronize Starbucks. I stay away from most politically correct businesses because their positions are generally thoughtless and spineless.

ReplyDeleteDepending on how you took the day off would depend on if you could be let go. Some places give you vacation which is yours to use depending on company rules. Some give you separate sick days with pay to use if you are really sick since for one they don't want you spreading your germs all over the place, plus when really sick your job performance sucks. But if you call in sick and then are seen at a protest that could get you in hot water. Why a lot of companies now just give you so much PTO to cover vacation and sick days with. When you work for a company you represent them in more ways than when just at work. Then there is good protesting and bad protesting. If you are seen on the news at a protest throwing rocks and bottles at people and property I could see why some bosses might have an issue with that.
