In much the same way that TKC is exceptionally excited about the Godzilla preview, here's news that's captivating and even scarier . . . While fracking continues to pose a danger to the Sunflower State, it seems nature is also turning on the local water supply. Take a look:
Kansas Biological Survey researchers probe causes of harmful algal blooms in state's reservoirs
LAWRENCE - Kansas reservoirs are in trouble. From 2010 to 2017, more than 50 of the state's reservoirs had what are known as harmful algal blooms - including a record 24 reservoirs in 2017. Harmful algal blooms, or HABs, produce potent toxins and render water bodies unsafe for any use.
Fertilizer runoff from over-treated Farmland?
ReplyDeleteThat's the only common factor I can see from looking at the Reservoirs using Google Earth.
It's an accepted fact that the coatings placed on seeds prior to planting increase the fertilizer content in the surrounding soil.
Amazing how home gardens grow high quality food and ornamentals using compost and little to no commercially produced chemical nutrients, insecticides, and herbicides. My family does it.
ReplyDeleteI have toured and volunteered at community gardens in this metro that are good stewards of resources and instruct on old school (truly organic, and cost effective) for gardening. It's more labor and time obligations than bringing home juice, dusts, and pellets. Ya get great exercise while keeping some of your hard-earned jack, Mac.
But, we know the high yield at lowest cost is the US industrial ag's aim. They got lotsa pressure to feed the 2 and 4 legged creatures on this planet.
Much tonnage has to be supplied to those gubmint cheese EBTs and three meals at schools. Oh, and gotta grow alot for the bribed basketball players to eat well at the lux hotels, mama's house, and the athletic dining halls.
ReplyDeleteAnd once all the potable water is undrinkable, nay untouchable, what will Trump and his buddies do for all the "faithful" supporters?
ReplyDeleteStill butt-hurt that the nag you placed your bet on lost to Trump. Trump hasn’t done any sin against the environment that has caused harmful algal blooms. Research will solve it and that is what is going on. Not political.
ReplyDelete@ 7:51, probably run the Deficit a Billion or two higher doing a bottled water handout to all the "good Republicans In The Great State of Kansas". As soon a he can get a warehouse of Ozarka re-labeled as "Trump Water", that is.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, that's what Republicans do when their "Voodoo Economics" don't work, run up the Deficit!
Oh and @ 8:19, wait till one of the Oil Pipelines Trump authorize to cross the Missouri River breaks in a Spring Runoff up in South Dakota and the entire KC Metro is without water for a week, then re-post your comment about Trump not causing environmental harm.
8:19 tell that to the EPA. Trump is your god and you are a obedient follower.
ReplyDeleteHate is your God, and you spend all day in worship.
DeleteFunny how hate is the actual platform your leader ran on, praise Trump AAaaAaaaamen.
ReplyDeleteObama ran the deficit up more than all the presidents before him combined. He was also born in Kenya, and adopted his children because his wife is a man. And him and Hillary cheated my man Bernie out of the nomination.
