Kansas City Real Train History

Nice write-up regarding the glory days of classic transit that powered this town's glory days. Take a look:

All aboard for railroad's Golden Age

The old Union Depot went out with a wild party in the fall of 1914, when the new Union Station on Pershing Road opened for business. The heyday of Union Avenue had come to a close; the old depot built in the late 1870s had seen its last flood and its last train.

  1. On last night river runner 313 it took 50 minutes from Lee's summit to independence station bc we were following a freight train. Reality of passenger rail is sad and embarrassing in a country with a $20 trillion dollars debt and nothing to show for it (except 11 carrier groups, bases in 100+ countries, &c.).

  2. Let's face it, nobody is getting rich in this economy so everybody should agree to fight on what's fair for everyone. The public before has been able to organize and make demands. If Americans stopped thinking like consumers and go back to being citizens it would then be possible for the public to manage the State. The Anti Trust laws are still on the books so that's a good place to start.
