Kansas City Moonlight Power Rankings

A quick list and link dedicated to Kansas City stargazers . . .

Background . . .

Guardian: Space stations, dark rituals and chorizo: how social media saw the blood moon

And the winners this week:

Northland Council Lady Heather Hall

She's talking trash more effectively than just about everybody else on Council and whilst the conversation isn't glamorous, it's one of the most important concerns of local residents as election season approaches.

Jackson County Democratic Committee

This week they took a strong move the challenge election practices at The Courthouse and the fallout threatens to cause upheaval amid the upcoming August Primary.

Kansas City Prez Trump Protesters

Like it or not, both mainstream and radical left protesters set the agenda for the Prez Trump visit and garnered more local fascination form both sides of the aisle than cable news partisan pablum.

Meanwhile . . .

The whole Raison d'ĂȘtre for the visit was support of local Vets which was mostly overlooked by both Prez Trump supporters & detractros . . .

As always, this list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people, trends and our times.

  1. Yes, people were "fascinated" with protesters but it's not because they supported their cause. More like watching a train wreck.

    1. Will agree about Heather Hall, she's doing the right think making trash cleanup a big part of her work. I feel like some of the council is late to the game on this one and others will never get there. For instance, this should have been a big win for Scott Wagner but it seemed like it was beneath him and he didn't have much to say about the subject.

    2. ^^^^^ Not really the council's job to deal with trash. That's an administrative task that should be handled by city staff. Those who want elected leaders to deal with are really just part of the problem, demanding special favors instead of bothering to learn how their city government works.

  2. City Hall drank up all the money with all those phones on martini hill.

  5. Amazing how many "scoops" Tony gets hanging around mens restrooms at City Hall and Jackson County Courthouse.

  6. It is way past time somebody from the city addresses the trash problem and the bio hazard problem should be addressed as well. San Freaksisco is losing tourists because of their trash and bio hazard problem. KCMO's trash and bio hazard problem will probably not interfere with the 25 million anally tourists but according to Go4KC picking up trash is not a requirement for world class status.

  7. She'd get a lot more male votes if she'd unbutton that blouse/jacket and showed a little more TKC cleavage

  8. @11:38pm
The city council has committees which supposedly provide oversight and direction to various city departments which then provide services (or not) to residents.
But you can't provide oversight or ask intelligent questions of department employees testifying before your committee if you don't make it your business to get out and learn about what's actually happening.
Which the council members in KCMO DO NOT.
That's how a director can let the airport terminal fall apart FOR YEARS without the council members on the aviation/transportation committee having a clue.
That's what serving on a city council is really about.
If people want to play at being important, suck up to the Chamber and developers, take meaningless foreign trips on the taxpayers' dime, get free tickets to suites at entertainment events, and endlessly work on what public job they're going to run for next, the voters need to find other folks.
Everyone would be much better off with less time and focus spent on nonsense sense minimum wage and pre-K courses and WAY MORE on services that people actually count on like trash pick-up.
Not wanting garbage blowing around your neighborhood is hardly asking for "special favors".

  9. ^^^ Good commentary and I agree with you. The city counsel needs to get involved and have the trash service pick up representatives in front of them taking questions why this isn't getting done. The people are paying good money for it.

  10. I want to point out to the Trump protesters that they should open their eyes and look at some facts, grow up, get a job and start being productive members of society. The headlines in every reliable news outlet today are "US ECONOMY ON TRACK TO HAVE BEST YEAR IN A DECADE". Time to get on board.

  11. The Grand Canyon only gets 5 million visitors a year, no way five times that many are coming to KCMO. They must be counting traffic passing through on the interstates.

  12. @ 1138 Two thumbs up on your comment. What is Kansas City paying big bucks to a City Manager for anyway? Troy Schulte and his staff are the ones to blame for not getting in front of this problem.

  13. 7:51 Was "anally" a typo or intentional? If intentional, very funny.

5:47 Do you mean you want the city attorney (counsel) to get on the trash problem. Hmmmm-

    ReplyDelete
  14. @9:57 it was intentional. Some tourism group in KCMO made a poster about the 25 million visitors anally and the phrase stuck and "went viral". Was discussed on TKC.

  15. Junkies should stick their syringes into their piles of BM, that will make it easier to step around it. A thoughtful junkie is the start to a great city.
