Here's the latest litany of Kansas City rideshare driver complaints about municipal favoritism and civic street hardship.
There's a lot to debate her but the main point is that even Internets tech isn't always able to overcome longtime local biz practices and screwed up streets.
Take a look:
KMBZ: Uber and Lyft drivers say Kansas City makes life difficult for them and their passengers
Deets:
"Blocked off streets in Westport, in particular, have made it almost impossible to pick up passengers . . . The biggest problem, drivers say, is that several locations only allow access to ZTrip vehicles and taxi cabs."
Developing . . .
This goes against the narrative Go4Kc is pushing about KCMO moving forward and gaining momentum. The city does not benefit from these outfits so team Slie is nor concerned about the problem. The taxis are in the city's back pocket while Uber and Lyft are not so do not expect help from the city.
ReplyDeleteCheck your Uber statement immediately after riding with them!!! Uber drivers are playing the vomit scam and charging people $150 on fake puke charges!!!
ReplyDeleteBusinesses always want to be left alone by government unless they ae looking for subsidies and other taxpayer money or they want to be protected from competition that they can't handle themselves.
ReplyDeleteThen it's off to city hall!
These folks need to hire someone to hang around all day on the 22nd floor of 12th and Oak like all the other grifter insiders.
That's how KCMO works!
It was great yesterday when we got as close as we could to Battle Hall or wherever the Trump show was supposed to be, and pedestrian traffic, etc., was blocked. There were blocks of vendors selling licensed Trump merch but not many protesters but we got word that an impromptu protest was going on
ReplyDeletearound Tenth and Baltimore. How to get there though? The car was parked in an all-day spot far from where we were and to walk to the protest would have taken hours. One minute later an Uber was waiting for us at the nearest intersection and about four minutes later my Purple Heart Veteran fellow protester and I, along with the fellow who told us about the 10th and Baltimore gig, were right where we wanted to be, shouting about what Democracy looks like and so forth. $5.85 (plus a $10 tip). The antiquated, extortionist Taxi cabal is not long for this world and better catch up with the times or find another racket.
So taxis and ztrip vehicles are still available. I'm okay with fully licensed vehicles having priority access, which I'm assuming they are paying for access to.
ReplyDeleteDon't know about zTrip, but the taxis are all owned by the George clan, with their silent partner Cleaver. That explains a lot.
ReplyDeletethe ride share folks don't make sympathetic whiners.
ReplyDeleteNor do they pay withholding taxes or social security /Medicare withholdings ...
