Another bloody weekend for Kansas City is exceptionally poignant given the FAILED effort to combat violence on local streets.
With a lot of really great numbers, stats and insight . . . Here's a MUST READ perspective on the weekend initiative . . .
Sentinel: Stabbing Death Shows How KC’s “Cease Fire” Weekend Misses The Point
The specifics of the latest local fatality:
FOX4: KCMO investigating a deadly shooting at 51st and Swope Parkway
Deets:
"This afternoon around 3:45p.m. police received calls about a shooting. On arrival officers found a black male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was outside a vehicle."
Again, this is the 68th homicide so far in 2018 compared to 85 at this time last year and 57 the year before last.
Anyone that may have seen anything is asked to call the TIPS hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS or the Homicide Unit at 816- 234-5043.

KC is catching up to last year's number. Probably be there by October.
ReplyDeleteNo call for peace ever really "fails" it's important to remind people to put down the guns at every point. It's up to individuals to decide their own fate but a community begging people to stop the violence is worthwhile? What's the alternative? Continued shooting? Not a good idea!
Delete^^^^^ WRONG not when you keep encouraging the same old plan that has never worked. You'd be better off getting people to talk and turn in those who do the shooting. That's part of the strategy to increase rewards which is the only thing police are doing differently that's hopefully having an effect.
DeleteSwope Parkway has been busy lately
ReplyDeleteSo we didn’t go a weekend without any murders. Did we have less than what we would have had without the ceasefire? Who knows, but it is better than doing nothing.
ReplyDeleteWell hell lets just call for a cease-fire for every weekend. Better yet every day . Who knows, but , but , but , but.
DeleteKCMO never fails to uphold its image as a high crime city. Regardless of what is tried to reduce crime it does not work. Hopefully people will realize that something must change and people are going to have to get involved in their community even if this means ratting on a friend. When people know how a crime happened they need to truthfully inform law enforcement. Then the law must hold people accountable.
ReplyDelete6:55, unless it had an observable and measurable effect, it is the same thing as doing nothing.
ReplyDeleteWhy does anyone here even care? All of you TKC commenters are out in the burbs and far away from crime. Why do you give such a sh$t?
ReplyDeleteSly's bullshit of the past seven years is overflowing into the streets that's obvious.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the shooter was from out of town and didn’t know.
ReplyDeleteFree pizza and balloons didn’t help? Maybe chicken and watermelon next time
ReplyDelete@ 9:33 no it wouldn't, they'd fuck that up also.
ReplyDelete^^^ true dat!
ReplyDeleteThey didn’t teach the word or meaning of ceasefire in kc public schools so naturally they thought it meant open season
ReplyDeleteNegroes like to kill, steal, rape. It’s that simple. No ceasefire is going to change that.
