CELEBRATE EVEN MORE JACKSON COUNTY CHARTER CHANGE MEETINGS!!!

A slew of issues confront the Courthouse and here's where paid consultants, political "activists" and all kinds of patrons earn their keep by parroting talking points and pretending that represents "public" comment . . .

The questions deal with term limits, raises for elected officials, putting the sheriff in charge of the county jail, having the county prosecutor control the COMBAT tax and allowing legislators to amend the annual budget after it has been adopted.

Public hearings set on proposed amendments to Jackson County Charter

The Jackson County Legislature has scheduled two public hearings regarding Ordinance 5102, which submits to the qualified voters of Jackson County, at the general election on November 6, 2018, six questions to amend the Jackson County Charter, with an effective date.

The public hearing dates will be held on Monday, July 16 and Monday, July 30 at 2:30 p.m. during the regular meeting of the Jackson County Legislature. The meetings take place at the downtown Jackson County Courthouse located at 415 E. 12th Street in Kansas City, MO in the Legislative Assembly Area on the second floor.

The public is encouraged to attend. Citizens who cannot attend can contact their County Legislator. They can use the Legislative Map Application by simply entering their address to find their representative.

A copy of Ordinance 5102 can also be found on the Jackson County website.

  1. Until voters and residents in Jackson County decide to elect a whole different kind of person to the legislature, none of this will make any difference at all.
All the "Democratic Party" crap has nothing to do with county government and the pet "causes" and fake celebrity of most of these clowns does nothing at all for residents and taxpayers who actually expect something for their money, well-run operations, and a government that responds to their needs.
The jail has been a catastrophe for years.
The assessment/taxation system is a mess.
Sanders dishonesty is followed by White's incompetence.
The COMBAT fund make the concept of "slush funds" look quaint.
You can change the structure and rules all you want, but fill the slots with the same kinds of people, and the results will be the same.

    Amen to that.

  3. 6:01 Frank White isn't just incompetent. He's just as dishonest as Sanders was. He's just isn't as fast a talker. Remember Sanders handpicked Frank to replace him as County Executive.

  4. Didn't Frank White, when his house was about to get foreclosed on, go running to sleazy Mike Sanders to some shady bailout deal worked out?

  5. One of the best charter change ideas I heard being discussed was eliminating the county exec position entirely. After Shields, Sanders and Frank White that's an idea that needed more consideration.

  6. Vote no on this charter change. The Legislators want a raise for a one day a week job, hell to no on that one. 99% of them are there one day a week if that sometimes. They are overpaid now.
