TKC Told You So: Sprint Center Pro-Team Promises To KCMO Voters Remain Broken

Remember not-so-long-ago . . . Politicos said building the Sprint Center would inevitably bring an NHL or NBA team to KCMO. Instead, b-list concerts are celebrated as a poor substitute and attraction that still hasn't helped to pay P&L District looting the general fund every year. Here's the newspaper confirming our blog community FIRST reporting from years ago . . .

KC Mayor Sly James talks about possible NBA, NHL team in Kansas City

Many of the points made Wednesday in Kansas City's bid to be a World Cup host in 2026 could easily be applied toward a campaign for an NBA or NHL team. But Kansas City mayor Sly James downplayed any such likelihood in an interview with The Star.

  3. This is never going to happen. Look at other NBA / NHL cities. They each have several Fortune 500 companies with headquarters or a significant physical presence in those cities and those companies pay for most of the very expensive tickets.
Hallmark Cards, Cerner, Garmin and H&R Block are not going to spend millions on games in the economic environment of KC.
Those cities have bigger populations than our hometown too.
    Mark my words, ain't happening!

    1. Wait a minute, troll. What are you doing out from under Mayor Bullhorn's desk? Get back to providing oral relief, slave. The computers are not for you. ;)

  8. ^^^Let's see..troll? "Where be my dinner be at? Where is be my bullhorn at?" Sounds trollish to me. Pot meet kettle. As for the oral relief, your wife and mother have that covered for me, but thanks for asking.

    1. I didn't ask, so that's weird.

Anyway, you need to go back to troll school. Weak technique, too repetitive, no new material and all you do is parrot back what smarter, funnier people say.

Own it. You suck at your only hobby. :)

  11. We really do need either an NBA or NHL team here. Saying we cannot support three teams is obtuse because both our teams play out in the middle of nowhere and a team with a downtown presence would exist in its own world. Also, the sprint center was very successful in its first few years with concerts but that is waning. It's a good arena but no longer the "world class" one it was 10 years ago

  12. There’s a reason that the baseball stadium left downtown, it failed because parking sucked beyond you wildest imagination. Getting in and out of downtown sucks anyway but add 20,000 more cars and one way streets to the mix and your now waiting fours hrs to get out. Toy train won’t fix it either

  13. ^^Get real. Wake up. Think beyond the little box you built for yourself. Nothing should ever change because it will be bad. You sound like you have never been anywhere else, and seen for yourself what a downtown stadium does. People learn to take alternative measures to get there, but I mean we need to give this idea a rest because you have no vision.

  14. Go to Minneapolis and see how the stadium messed up the city?
