ReplyDeleteSince when does anyone "deserve" a job? Jolie doesn't even know that part of her council district is north of the river. In fact, most Northlanders who live in the 4th district don't even know that. De-annex the Northland so we can be represented by someone who actually recognizes our issues. Oh, and before anybody starts ranting about The Great WHITE North, come visit and see how diverse we really are.

ReplyDeleteThe only sensible form of City Council districting in Kansas City would be East-West District borders reaching from the State Line to the eastern City Limits, with those borders being adjusted North-South
after each Census to create population groups as nearly equal as possible.
Of, course, this would not accomplish the unwritten goals of: 1) keeping the "schwartzers" off Ward Parkway, and 2) guaranteeing more than 50% African-American representation on the Council, and 3) disenfranchising the Hispanic portion of the City's population.
Therefore, the City will continue to stumble along, using re-districting for "social engineering' rather than "democratic" purposes.
Jolie is the right man for the job!

This guy reminds you of Steve Rose and his very brief plunge into politics when he decided to announce his Congressional bid.
