The petition to move forward a Missouri audit of the embattled suburban local government recently gained 1,691 voter signatures totaling 8,697.
And then . . .
A recent fire alarm at the Clay County Courthouse irked reformers over the lack of emergency response and no clear plan to deal with dox at risk in case of a real emergency.
Most importantly . . .
THE CONSEQUENCES OF AN ALLEGED SLAP FIGHT BETWIXT A PUBLIC OFFICIAL VS. A SUPPORTER OF THE AUDIT WILL BE CHARGED TO TAXPAYERS!!!

"According to a police report, the incident occurred on April 27 at the Lowe's in Liberty where an assistant Clay County administrator allegedly assaulted a private citizen. He was at the Lowe's with another assistant county administrator, who is listed as a witness in the case.
"These records show the county -- and ultimately taxpayers -- will pay the attorneys to represent the employees in this criminal investigation."
And so, the Northland political beef is getting personal and taxpayers are now on the hook as the crusade for reform is literally fighting for survival.

This really highlights the problem of public responsibility for personal actions. There is no incentive for those employed by the sovereign to show any civility toward the rest of us.
