TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! BAD REVIEWS ABOUND FOR NEW KANSAS CITY LINWOOD SHOPPING CENTER SUN FRESH GROCERY STORE AMID SHOPLIFTING SECURITY POLICY CRISIS!!!

This afternoon Kansas City is only offered promotional coverage of a new taxpayer subsidized grocery store in urban core Kansas City whilst social media touts rampant criticism of the venture already emerging.

The grand opening for the new Sun Fresh Market at the corner of Linwood Blvd. and Prospect Ave was touted by City Hall and most of the news coverage simply follows propaganda talking points hoping to support 12th & Oak investment of millions worth of public funds.

Today's opening served mostly as a political rally with no less than a half-dozen elected officials working the crowd for votes.

However . . .

BEHIND THE SCENES SOCIAL MEDIA COMPLAINTS IDENTIFY PROFILING AND FAMILY UNFRIENDLY CRITICISM GAINING TRACTION AMONG NEARBY RESIDENTS!!!

Right now one of the top complaints argues against a controversial sign threatening to limit access for customers with youngsters in tow.

Take a look:

Here are just a few complaints that are have earned hundreds of likes & shares . . .

"The sign on the door says "No Backpacks, No Bags, No strollers" So if I'm a mother and came to the store with my child, I have to carry them. If I had to walk to the store with my baby, I can't bring the diaper bag."

"Was not built for us, built for the newcomers and residents of new apts. scheduled to be developed . . ."

"Family unfriendly . . . In addition to the profiling of 95% of the residents who will frequent the store."

This last point from a very knowledgeable insider sparks an interesting juxtaposition.

EARLY CUSTOMERS REPORT RAMPANT SHOPLIFTING WHICH NECESSITATED THE POLICY TO PREVENT STEALING!!!

In fact, a cadre of women shoving merch into their bags hand over fist caused panic among workers and so the new policy was enacted. Bad to worse: Some witnesses report the women were selling the stolen items back to potential customers in the parking lot.

And so . . .

ALREADY THERE'S COMMUNITY ANGER TARGETING THE STORE AMID A SHOPLIFTING CRISIS!!!

And this conflict is a big part of the reason that taxpayer subsidy of an old-school grocery store was hotly contested as private biz retreated from the area over concerns over security and shrinkage.

Brief aside . . . The grocery store subsidy touted by City Hall overlooked innovative alternatives for healthy food delivered to the community like the Rollin' Grocer which has earned nationwide acclaim. But I digress . . .

Now, KCMO has committed taxpayers to solving the "food desert" problem by way of subsidy for a business model that previously failed and is once again hotly debated within the urban core.

Developing . . .

  1. The store will change management in 2 years and probably fold in 5. This was a bad idea and another "legacy" of Mayor Sly James.

    1. the store management doesn't know what they're doing. Such a blatant sign is in bad taste and isn't going to help them win over the surrounding neighborhood.

    2. Inept management and angry neighbors?

Sounds like a typical KC development. Maybe that's why KC is going broke despite the 14% sales tax rate in the center of the city.

  2. Five years is generous. Grocery stores operate on a thin profit margin of less than 1%. Tight security isn't even part of their business model. If the don't close, expect that city's share of subsidy to increase by double over the next few years, sadly that is par for the course when it comes to most developments.

This was a bad deal to begin with, none of the people who pushed this forward had any real experience with grocery stores or even wholesale food distribution.

  3. We don't want babies with shitty diapers stinking up the store. Require women to wear slacks with blouses tucked in to avoid sticking beef roasts between their legs. Do not accept food stamps or debit cards. Only allow 1 kid under 18 in the store at one time.

  4. Oh no the pant shitter's are complaining about the store policies.
Ugh Ugh my snowflake diapers are full.

  6. The grocery store me also has a sign at the entrance that says "No Backpacks" and I don't live anywhere near the inner city. Backpacks are a red flag for shoplifting.

  7. The rolling grocer is a good idea. I live in the suburbs and I think that would do well out here to help seniors.

  10. This is why the last store closed there, rampant thievery and robbery’s, you can’t put anything in the the hood or they’ll steal you blind. They get free gubmint money for food but their genetics and pea sized brains are built for stealing. You can put a cement factory there and they’d fuck it up. Hood people are the dumbest mutha effers in the land.

  11. The previous store was put out of business by crime and blight. A store policy of not allowing bags, strollers etc is simply to discourage theft.
It is hard to believe these people are complaining about a store the tax payers of the City has funded. My prediction is that the $10,000,000 KC investment here will go down in history as a huge mistake.

  12. Slie was at the grand opening accepting handouts.

  13. I wonder if the Sun Fresh sells chitlins and pig ears and other black delicacies?

  14. The behavior of the primary customers should surprise nobody. Taxpayers open a store in the hood to help the people of the hood and all the hood rats want to do is steal it blind. Now people know why no business wants to go to the hood.
Was the east side tax supposed to subsidize store losses because of theft.

Team Slie should be ashamed of themselves.

  17. Shoplifting and the shoplifters ruin it for everyone. Those of you who hate it, would you allow people to come visit your home and sneak off upon leaving with your possessions? I seriously doubt it.

  18. It would be racist to arrest shoplifters at that store.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The inhabitants of the urban core show their appreciation to the taxpayers for subsidizing a grocery store in the hood.

  22. They need to prosecute the shoplifters to the maximum amount allowed by law to send a message, however, stupid liberals will just complain and wine something to the extent that “it shouldn’t be illegal to be poor.” Dumb liberals who are too afraid of actually makin minorities responsible for their crimes will be the downfall of this store and the city.

  23. Not only has this taxpayer-funded store been opened in the same building a similar grocery store went bust due to shoplifting and violence, but it's just three blocks from the taxpayer-funded Aldi grocery at 39th and Prospect.
Which, apparently is news to the television "reporters" who insist that this latest fiasco has been opened to address the nonsense of the "food desert" in the urban core.
How many neighborhoods have two grocery stores within three blocks of one another?
The very best of KCMO government.
Turning taxpayer money into thin air.
Without endless and ever-increasing subsidies, this won't last two years.

  24. GROCERY CHAINS ARE A GRIND TO KEEP GOING...TAKES LONG YEARS TO GET THE GLAM AND THE GOLD!6/16/18, 6:58 PM

Lipari family's multi-generations of grocers have been successful because they do what's required to serve their clients well. Every store they've owned that my family has shopped for several decades has been AWG/KCK members, which helps with quality standards, fair pricing, and good selections. All levels of personnel at Lipari stores have had loyal staff who've stayed employed with them far longer than many other retailers. Same goes for the dedicated and respectable Cosentino family stores, where owners put in the long hours and physically taxing functions well past the age of a deserved early retirement they could opt for, if they wanted to.

  30. Why is this not family friendly? A family is a husband and a wife and their children. A mother of welfare bastards without a husband is a garbage slut and a parasite, unless she is a poor widow, God bless her. Even if you need to take the bus, surely the husband can stay with the children outside while the wife shops, or vice versa. Also there should only be one register for food stamps, EBT cards, etc. That way security can keep an eye on the parasites. And for God's sake don't do like they do on Mill St.--no unaccompanied children should be allowed in the parking lot, period. Time to end food stamps for baby mama. Maybe even give them their own store, back of the sewage processing plant.

  35. Prospect or suspect Ave is what they themselves call it is just a giant waste of taxpayers money, every penny spent there is wasted, those people are locust, they come, destroy everything in their path and leave. This has been going on since at least the 70’s. They built a new 100 million dollar police station 4 blocks away and as usual they don’t care. It’s time to end the experiment because it’s clear you can’t help these people because they refuse to help themselves.

  37. Tonight on "Who Cares" we're talking to the TKC Scholars about a grocery store they will never visit.

Conclusion: They are preaching segregation, practicing racial profiling & generally citing all kinds of ignorant stereotypes to rationalize their fear, & therefore, hatred of blacks. (I don't think they understand that there are way more than two races in this country, but it was the blacks that were enslaved, & it's therefore the blacks that they hate.)

Solution: Shut this blog down as a public nuisance.

Join us next time on "Who Cares" as we'll be talking to SuperDave about what exactly makes him super, & why he insists on desecrating the American Flag, while posturing as a Patriot, who never served.

  38. ^^^ Of you could find something else to read.

Some of the comments are dumb but that's the whole internet. Your comment is kind of nasty as well. Super Dave signs his stuff and it's not so horrible, where as you're just throwing out garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @ 10:53, how can you justify the shoplifting? No grocery store in my neighborhood has those signs! Why is that? Please answer honestly!

You think if a city subsidizes a grocery store in your neighbor with tax revenue that primarily, I mean entirely, comes from other districts that you would be greatful and be on your best behavior. All of the "Reverends," or is it "con-artists," over there should have been preaching that to their clergy. But then again, how many of those "reverends" have a rap sheet of their own?

I paid over personally paid more than the median salary for Kansas City in income taxes last year (which doesnt include the real property taxes, personal property taxes, and sales taxes) and do you think this city council cares to complete projects that I support, no they cater to the welfare recipients.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Immediately require all shoppers to strip naked before filling their carts. Yes, some women will be able to fit a rump roast in a body orfice, but not 2 or 3.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 10:53 is the typical asshole that Kansas City is full of. They are cowards who like and enjoy trash talking people but are to afraid to sign what they say. By the way fucktard, Super Dave did wear a uniform and a badge and is more an American citizen that a miserable punk like you will ever be.

    ReplyDelete
  43. If you put a grocery store in a notoriously bad part of town - any town - you're going to have rampant shoplifting.

So, if you're politically intent on dropping 10-million plus in taxpayer funds in a place where the clientele will steal everything that isn't
nailed down, why not invest in touch screens . . . no products on the shelves. Want your Fruit Loops, or potatoes, or whatever . . . just press the picture of Toucan Sam and the guys back in the warehouse will bag 'em up and have them waiting at checkout. Keep the selections to the basics.

My guess, is that all of our pets, dogs, cats, turtles, parrots etc. etc. could have predicted this outcome.

    Jesus, what a joke.

  48. And to think it only took one day of being open to have to put that sign up, and 10:53 is stupid enough to believe his people, the rapin, Robbin, murderous blacks are the victims, white guilt is over dipshit, start taking responsibility for you and your peoples actions. It’s not whites that are doing this, it’s blacks......... again and again and again and again
