KCMO Streetcar Extension Über Alles

The win this week was predictable but that doesn't mean it's not important. Federal funding has proven elusive but so far the toy train hasn't needed any semblance of real citywide Democracy to move forward . . . So, there's reason for supporters to be giddy with how far they've come so far.

Cordish Wins Taxpayer Cash

A Council majority approved MILLIONS tax breaks and subsidy for the upcoming "Three Light" project this week as the top luxury apartment developer in town now looks to advance its holdings whilst the rest of Kansas City struggles to find affordable housing.

New Airport Waiting Times Start Now

The delay for new Kansas City airport construction is going to be significant and costly just as skeptics, critics and opponents of the plan warned.

And so, with love for this wicked little town and our blog community despite so many obvious mistakes & flaws . . .

This list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people, trends and our times.

  2. The good news for the week is they want to get a vote for renaming the Paseo to MLK and I say let them, I don't want to new expensive airport to be named MLK airport.

    That's embarrassing to KC.

  3. It's both telling and sad that most of this week's "power players" are actually drains on the city's general fund, with no plan whatsoever to really budget any money for them.
So it's going to come from somewhere else.
    The general fund.
Which should fund actual services of value to the residents and businesses in the city.
    Same song, 415th verse.
And it makes no difference at all who gets elected.
    They're all the same.
Has Kander visited the Chamber to get his marching orders yet?

  5. overall these developments are good for the city. They move downtown forward, create jobs and provide a greater diversity of residents. If you don't like what's happening Downtown, they you are against KC's progress overall.

  6. The only notable item is the delay in the airport which will cost the taxpayers millions more. Way to go team Slie.

  7. Do not forget the $million handout to Cordish for Three Light which also costs the taxpayers millions. KCMO taxpayers deserve every tax increase we get.
