SHOULD NEW MISSOURI GUV PARSON PARDON ERIC GREITENS?!?!

As he prepares to assume the role of Governor, most voters and all of the MSM is offering Guv Lite Mike Parson high praise for a sterling reputation as a former military and law enforcement leader. Sadly, Eric Greitens might tarnish that legacy as well with a nasty mess that needs to be cleaned up.

The question . . .

WHAT'S THE POLITICAL PRICE OF A PARDON FOR ERIC GREITENS?!?!?

Just a few quick consequences come to mind:

- Many Missouri voters would be happy to put this sleazy episode in the past.

- Whilst Super-Minority Democratic Party supporters would earn an EPIC series of talking points along with some advantages down ballot.

- Still, we're far enough out from election season that, ironically, the sexy workout accusations might seem like nothing more than a bad dream in a few months. Meanwhile, the reality is that neither Republicans nor Democratic Party leaders want to do anything serious about campaign finance report other than mislead naive voters.

And so, TV news is the first to put the question out there . . .

KCTV5: As Parsons becomes top Missouri official, Greitens pardon becomes possible

Reminder . . .

Parson will have a lot more power once he gets the title of governor. And with that comes the power of pardoning.

Currently, Parson has said he plans to make his transition as smooth as possible. But, the question remains, could he use his pardon power to make all of Governor Eric Greitens’ problems go away?

Now we put it to our blog community . . .

SHOULD NEW GUV PARSON PARDON ERIC GREITENS?!?!

You decide . . .

  2. It's the new political scam and Trump is going to use the pardon a hundred times more than everyone else combined. Go do a bunch of illegal shit that enriches you, give Trump kickbacks, and if you get convicted Trump will pardon them. Out democracy is gone, it's a oligarchy, plutocracy, authoritarian government, whatever you want to call it, but democracy it is not.

  3. Yes, Missouri needs to get past this totally.

  4. Pardon him for what? The whore was married to a Democrat who couldn't possibly satisfy her. She was a hot good looking slut. So Greitens fucked her. I would have too, and most guys would have fucked her unless they are faggots. Big deal.

  5. If I understand correctly he agreed not to pursue any legal issues against the St Louis prosecutor if she dropped any new charges against him. That leaves it up to the Jackson County prosecutor and there is no way in hell she proceeds with the loser case she was handed. So I don't see why a pardon is necessary.

  6. My first reaction is no but then I remembered how furious I was when Ford pardoned Nixon and remembered what Ford said about it later and it made more sense in the long run. In this case I still say no.

  7. The Greedy Old Perverts are so desperate to sweep this piece of shit under the carpet before the November Elections that a pardon will be high on the list of next week's agenda.
Parson is a decent, man, but he's still under the Republican't thumb.

  8. Hey 8:36 Who pardoned all of the GITMO terrorists?? Who pardoned the Puerto Rican terrorist?? (cop killer) You are about the stupidest person around. Trump has done some great things for our country and you're too stupid to see it, now that's hilarious. At least Trump has the guts to rock the boat no other prez had the guts to do, like the red foreskin Obama who out right said he hated America!

Grietens pardoned for what??? Having an affair with a women who keeps changing her story and then said she didn't want anything to do with it.

You globalist democracts are so stupid it's gives everyone a lot to laugh at.

  9. 10:38---I didn't see anything in 9:38's post referencing Trump. T assume he/she's a "globalist democrat" assumes a lot but your rant gave me a chuckle.

  10. Isn't campaign fraud a federal crime? My guess is that's where the ex-guv winds up, in federal court? Campaign violations are usually handled by the feds, and running a "non-profit" that Greitens appears to have profited from could spell t-a-x f-r-a-u-d.

I say screw him. I can't believe the Republicans who defend this scuzzball just because he's one of their guys, no more than I could believe the Democrats who were the same way with Bill Clinton.

One of the good things about being an Independent, you don't have to be a hypocrite, defending corrupt pieces of crap just because they belong to your party.

  11. 1 - Pardons are only issued to people that are guilty. To accept it, is to accept your wrongdoing. Greitens doesn't deserve it, since he still will not admit he did anything wrong. That goes for Sheriff Joe and D'Souza too. It's galling for them to accept pardons then in the same breath claim they didn't need one. If you don't "need" it, you don't get it.

2 - Pardons circumvent and overturn the rule of law and justice for the citizens wronged. They should be used sparely. They aren't party favors to give to all your friends.

3 - Using them to impede other investigations is abuse of power. Pardons are issued after judgement has been made, not when we still do not know the extent of the crimes committed. With Nixon, even without a conviction, there was the judgement that had to resign which was a finality to the Watergate process.

4 - They should be used under highly unusual situations, like to correct severe injustice. A wrongly accused person, say framed by planted evidence, should be corrected. They could also be earned. A person that has since repented and has spent time helping others is truly deserving consideration for a pardon or at least clemency.

Issuing pardon simply because you can is the act of a king excising unfettered power. 8:36 is right. What we are seeing is not the functioning of a healthy democratic republic.

  12. 10:38 so you're cool with keeping people in prison for years with no trial? And Greitens is goi g down for way more than banging some chick on the side. He resigned to keep himself put of federal pounding in the ass prison. It's also cool you're fine with everyone in the Trump administration breaking multiple serious laws but then again you are probably one the moronic 59% of the country that doesn't think Mueller has a single guilty plea or indictment yet because you believe everything the Fox propaganda network tells you. You're one of the idiotic right for whom facts, science, and evidence means nothing. People like you can't be reasoned with. Do the world a favor and if you ever find yourself on jury duty do everything possible to get out of it.

  13. 2:08, you are wrong about a lot. There is no such thing as acceptance/rejection of a pardon. Once a chief executive issues a pardon, it's over.

Pardons should be issued sparingly, except when it's Obama pardoning terrorists or Clinton pardoning Marc Rich et al.

Pardons may be granted at any time, before or after conviction, or even before a prosecution has been commenced. Why waste time and money on a trial when the defendant will be pardoned regardless?

A pardon is never an abuse of power. It is an unlimited right of the President or Governor by the express terms of the federal or state Constitution. A pardon granted for purely political (Obama's pardoned terrorists) or personal (Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich) may grate, but the acts were completely within the authority of the office.
