KANSAS SECSTATE KRIS KOBACH TOY GUN PARADE STUNT PUSH BACK & SUPPORT!!!

This weekend Kansas voters were confronted with a decisive moment in the upcoming race for governor that speaks to the gun debate and right-wing culture war . . .

Here's the word on the controversy from the top ranking Conservative leader:

Kobach tweeted: "Had a blast riding in the Old Shawnee Days Parade in this souped up jeep with a replica gun. Those who want to restrict the right to keep and bear arms are deeply misguided. The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. #ksleg #ksgov #TeamKobach"

The news round-up and regret from organizer:

KMBC: “I think it’s kind of amusing that snowflakes today think that people be afraid at the sight of a gun," said Kobach.

KCTV5: Kobach -- 'Outrage' over parade appearance is 'to attack guns' and Second Amendment rights

Fox4: City of Shawnee apologizes after Kris Kobach rides machine gun-mounted jeep in parade

As promised, here's what you guys had to say:

GOP Against JoCo Anti-Gun Hypocrisy: "And, how many Shawnee "kids" have been playing the very gruesome video games depicting guns, or viewing movies with that same type of content, or listening to rap lyrics about gun violence, sex, drugs and alcohol?"

Hip-hop Juxtaposition With Republicans: "At least he's not a rapper but flexing with a fake gun is using the same kind of tactics that conservatives would rail against in any other circumstance."

The Social Media Discourse: "Good for Kobach. He knows how to troll the liberals and shore up his base at the same time."

History Lesson From Chuck: "Progressives have gone from trying to look kool in an M1-A1 Battle Tank like Michael Dukakis, to embracing their Beta Male, Ken Doll, smooth-between-the-legs personas and making it work."

Mainstream Likability Questioned: "Kobach may be brilliant, but he's not polished."

You decide . . .

Okay, so here's your choice: You have the CONSERVATIVE Governor who is a doctor and also works providing volunteer treatment to the less fortunate OR a guy who waves his replica gun around at a parade and just found himself in contempt of judge's orders in his latest case. The choice is clear for adults who are Republican voters. We need to step away from these childish games played by ideologues who would rather promote their personality than focus on policy that impacts voters.

  8. When you're in the Westport area and a bad guy is threatening you with a gun, you just might like to see a "good guy" helping you out. Of course if you are a libtard, you are on your own.

  9. Its a free world and he is entitled to be in any parade doing as he pleases long as he breaks no laws. I have no idea what the city of Shawnee got their panties in a twist about what he did when it didn't break the law but them speaking out against what he did is to me saying he has no right to freedom of speech or freedom of expression by expressing his thoughts. Like I said he didn't break the law in anyway. I bet if he had been driving a rainbow painted jeep with a huge dildoe on the top of it with the letters LBGT on the side of it all would have been ok with it.

  10. Kobach isn't going to defend anybody with a toy gun. He's calling people "snowflakes" but it's pretty obvious he is a FAKE tough guy.

Absolutely agree with Super Dave. But I would like to see more dildos than guns. I think it's marginally safer!

  12. I feel unsafe, alas, alas! I'm scared! Did you all see that scary gun???

  13. Do we really have to be so PC we can't ride in a stars and stripes Jeep that has a replica of what defends your right to express your opinion?

Has the U.S. gone topsy turvey?

Come on people, You have freedom, enjoy it AND respect the rights of others. We all too often lose sight of that.

  14. Did you see that cloud that sorta looked like a gun the other day. I hid my kids in the basement and told them not to look up until I gave the all clear. However, I'm confident my kids will rise to the occasion should my country be threatened, as it was in the Revolutionary war, or the War of 1812. I have shown them how to duck and cover!

My disgust with liberals who would/will have to rely on patriotic citizens in time of war to save their sorry asses is without limit. Perhaps George Clooney will surely be your savior.

I support Kobach's right to play with toys.

  16. Obviously Kobach has a lot in common with our President. He got the attention that he wanted for this move. That's why he's smiling. This will rally supporters to his side. And the people who weren't going to vote for him. Will remain that way. But, what we see him doing is creating a wedge issue in order to gain publicity, notoriety, and a clear brand distinction. All together I'd say he won the weekend and all he had to do is just ride around in a Jeep during a parade. Well played.

  17. Playing Army as a politician is lame. With that said, I'm sure the lowest common denominator citizens of Kansas got a hard on when this clown rolled by.

  18. Well said, 8:08 :-)

  19. What scares me about this story isn't the fake gun, it's that this guy could become Governor of Kansas and then we would have to go through the crap Missouri went through with Greitens.

This is the wrong guy to be in charge in Kansas. Choose Colyer!
