TKC QUESTION: WILL OLD NAVY SAVE KANSAS CITY COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA?!?

Right now the sordid businesses of dying retail in the era of Internets commerce concerns our blog community.

A not-so-fun-fact . . .

KSHB: Old Navy will open a new store in the current Gap space at 424 W. 47th Street.

Don't worry, GAP is just scaling down their efforts but the news inspires this EPIC INSIGHT from one of the smarter denizens of our blog community.

Old Navy is going into the Plaza. An upscale store not found in very many places and will definitely NOT attract large groups teen. Right??? :(

The question deserves an answer . . .

IS OLD NAVY COMING SOON TO THE COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA JUST ANOTHER BAD DECISION FOR THE EMBATTLED ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT???

You decide . . .

  1. More cheap chinese merch that you can get anywhere else or on the Intenret.

Look around and notice that young people don't give a damn about brand labels any more.

They did not think this through.

When has the plaza every thought things through? I'm looking forward to shopping there and it beats having to go to the suburbs to get some cheap shorts. But yes, I can see where this might be a problem in the future, especially during the Summer months.

  2. You're not looking at the bright side here. Youngsters can steal two armloads of clothes and it would still only account for about $25. Thank you capitalism!

  3. This means only one thing: more black people on the Plaza.

  4. THis is great! Now if I accidentally poop myself on a bike ride or jog I can just take the tenner out of my phone armband and buy myself 3 pairs of shorts!

  5. Nike’s and old navy! What more could black people want!

  6. That navy is part of a soon to be sunk fleet.

  7. The only thing that will save the Plaza is a clientele change.

  8. I would not call Old Navy an upscale store.

Just more low rent moving in. Such a shame.

  12. Unbelievable. A store that is typically anchored in strip malls surrounded by Petsmart and Home Depot is now coming to the Plaza. Next up, tattoo parlors and payday loans.

  14. ^^^ I feel your pain but I could see a tattoo parlor doing really great business on the Plaza, if it was done right.

    1. The way things are going, you’re absolutely right. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

  15. I went through the Plaza Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, I can't believe how dead it was. The only places that were busy were the restaurants. The streets were void of any people, just a handful. After growing up with the Plaza when all business was local and loads of people shopping everyday, this was a pathetic sight!

  16. Why is OLD NAVY docking on the Plaza, just off Brush Creek?

Because when "semen" get released ashore, they have a wad saved up.

  17. So now when some poor Asshole falls into the toxic waste maggots infested shit hole Brush Creek or walks into the shit hole Diebels on the Plaza TRANNY hangout they can get some fast cheap change of clothes at the new thrift shop in the metrosexual TRANNY Killa city boons run Plaza ?

  18. We need section 8 housing on the plaza

  19. Rename 47th St MLK Avenue.
Bring in the streetcar to 47th St.
Up to 10 Liquor stores would work.
    And a really nice Walmart.
All the upscale stores moved to Johnson County.
Employees hate the 1% Earnings tax

  20. MLKreek runs past Old Navy, the Nike store and soon to open Weave World on the Playza.
