TKC MUST SEE BECAUSE YOU PAID FOR IT!!! KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR MODERN DANCE PERFORMANCE ART!!!

It's kind of a freaky-deaky midweek and so today we wanted to share something a bit out of the ordinary to lead the blog.

To wit . . .

CELEBRATE AN INSPIRING BIT OF KANSAS CITY MODERN DANCE PERFORMANCE ART CELEBRATING THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR!!!

Laugh all you want but Kansas City pays big bucks for this stuff and the movie was funded by way of an Art In The Loop grant.

Here's the description of this bit of toy train cinema just released hours ago . . .

"Inspired Pedestrians was a video and performance project held as part of the 2016 Art in the Loop Project “Connect.” The performance intention was to relax distinctions between art and life with dance and commuting. It captures a dance of pedestrian traffic on and off KC Streetcar, newly launched the same month. The video connects visual associations between people as well facial expressions of possible confusion, uneasiness, or possibly mistrust in the communal adventures of public transit."

Take a look:

Don't get it twisted, TKC loves art.

However . . .

IS A STREETCAR TOY TRAIN PERFORMANCE ART MODERN DANCE MOVIE THE BEST USE OF KCMO TAXPAYER RESOURCES?!?!

Much smarter people than TKC have talked about rethinking the Kansas City One Percent for Art Program that's gonna amount to tens of millions for the new airport. Moreover, art in praise of speculative development schemes is kinda fascist by nature and given the rapidly rising taxes throughout Kansas City -- Rethinking cash for typically elitist and self-indulgent fare really deserves further consideration.

You decide . . .

    2. Cool stuff. Don't be such a hater. A city needs art and needs to support it. This is part of how we become an international city and attract even more tourists. Think about it T, if you didn't think it was interesting you wouldn't have linked it in the first place!

    3. It's more hype and bullshit, the main product of Mayor Bullhorn's City Hall. While our crime spikes and our roads deteriorate, we're provided dancers to celebrate a money pit most of the voters didn't want anyway.

It's not 'hate' to critcize morally bankrupt and incompetent civic authority.

  2. Oh no, pretty sure even trying to defend this is going to give Go4KC an embolism.

  3. That video was a waste of time to watch, disgusting.

  4. ^^^ You have no class 10:25. Such a Philistine and not representative of the people of KCMO at all.

  5. "IS A STREETCAR TOY TRAIN PERFORMANCE ART MODERN DANCE MOVIE THE BEST USE OF KCMO TAXPAYER RESOURCES?!?!"

Well, of course. It's much more avant garde and much less mundane than filling potholes and making our streets great again.

  6. Well of course. It's also much less mundane than the shitting of pants and the rendering of garments you complaining bastards post EVERT FUCKING DAY, EVERY FUCKING POST.

  7. Gotta Dance!

  8. If KCMO is going to spend taxpayers' money on performance art, paying the "artist" who lies on the floor in a body bag is actually much more representative of the city government than people dancing around.
Get him on the streetcar and make the 25 million tourists who visit KC every year have to step over him.
Maybe they'll even ask about the homicide rate.
    Let's get these priorities straight!

    Bullshit.

  10. I would much rather watch female strippers pole dance at the stop. Now THAT is art.

  11. Have to agree with K C Picasso - this is the most Artistic and Innovative Performance Kansas City has ever seen (unfortunately)

  12. Street car is going to eventually start having lot lizards at their stops

  13. The real performance art is the insulting con job of convincing a very very few voters that this extremely expensive boutique rail attraction was practical or desirable.

  14. Those 6,000 daily streetcar riders paid for this entertainment with their $2.00 fares. Oh, wait........

  15. I'm sure all the faggots approve.

  16. Let's see. If the performance artists, which are paid, get on and off the street car and on to the next car at each stop are they counted each time as new riders? Just looks like a way to take up a lot of vacant space and juice the numbers. And how much are these "artists" paid for their work?
    Thanks S'Lier.

Just take that in with you next time you see your therapist. No charge, have a good day. :)

  22. A HOMOSEXUAL PUBLIC MASTURBATION PERFORMANCE

If they stay out of the way of citizens, I don't have a problem with it, as long as it's privately financed or done on a volunteer basis.

    Let artists do their thing.

The real issue here, and in so many other cases, is that the taxpayers are essentially mugged and their funds confiscated for frivolous indulgences which only support and impact a minutiae of the population.

Art In The Loop Foundation is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging artists in the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Kansas City.

AILF is a unique partnership of the Downtown Council of Kansas City, the Kansas City Art Institute and the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

Where do they get their funding? From taxpayers and those who profit off collusive activities with City Hall. Examples: City of Kansas City, KC Streetcar, Leonard Street law firm, Copaken Brooks, Burns and McDonnell, JE Dunn, Port KC, etc.

Are you in prison and someone forces you to read and comment on TKC? That's the only reason I can see for your constantly returning to a site you can't stand.

  32. Lots of white folk riding their toy train. And what's with that annoying streetcar bell? I'd ride a bus in a New York second over dealing with that crap, even if they charged twice as much to ride the bus.
