TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY NASTY PHOTOSHOP FAKE SIGN REVEALS RAMPANT PUBLIC DISTRUST OF CITY HALL NUMBERS!!!

Now that we've all had our fun, here's a link to forward drunk uncles and your mom as the fugazi Visit KC photoshop sign continues to make the rounds across social media . . .

Snopes: Does a ‘Welcome to Kansas City’ Sign Contain an Unfortunate Typo? An image of a welcome sign featuring the word "anally" instead of "annually" is a digital creation.

However, this phony social media sensation that quickly traveled the world contains just a bit of truth.

DON'T FORGET THAT THE PHOTOSHOP FAKE SIGN POKES FUN AT KANSAS CITY'S EQUALLY PHONY TOURISM NUMBERS!!!

The 25 million KC tourism number has often been the butt of many jokes online but this social media episode seems to the climax of frustration with City Hall propaganda.

Consultants and cheerleaders often defy critics to prove them wrong regarding the KC tourism industry and so along with this funny .jpg, one of the most informed members of our blog community offered an OFF-RECORD hint at numbers which compare and contrast VisitKC hype.

Fun fact . . .

THE 25 MILLION KC VISITOR NUMBER DOESN'T MATCH UP WITH LOCAL AIR TRAVEL DATA!!!

Evidence:

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 11,503,936 passengers traveled through Kansas City International Airport in 2017

Accordingly . ..

GIVEN KCI DATA: ACHIEVING 25 MILLION VISITORS EVERY YEAR WOULD REQUIRE DOUBLE THE NUMBER OF ROAD TRIP VISITORS TO THIS COWTOWN!!!

Inaccurately counting every car that passed through the metro area would STILL result in a shortfall of several million people and citing those travelers as "visitors" is disingenuous at best.

And so, we offer a double take on this issue not only because the meme will live in Internets infamy forever but also because it reveals widespread mockery of Kansas City tourism ambitions.

Developing . . .

    1. Only agree about the continued forwarding. Sent half a dozen times this morning. Dad won't believe it's not true. On the bright side it inspired him to have lunch at Cascone's today in order to check it out. Thanks for the link, T. Might save my aunt the trip.

    2. Don't forget the streetcar numbers. 4 million in two years?

Not even if you count all of the homeless twice.

  2. So much hate here that I am considering stopping my posts.

But I will correct TKC on one facts that he stipulates.

The number of "travelers" who drive through Kansas City are, in fact, visitors! They see our community, they often stop through. We need to show them the best of our city and make them want to come back. To ignore drivers through the area is to give up on opportunity.

We need to welcome every visitor. And joking about our efforts or making fun of the people who work hard to make KC BEST isn't productive!

  3. City Hall is too full of stupid people to understand that most of us knew it was a fake picture but the real fakeness of it all was that stupid 25 million figure that everyone is laughing at.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Go4KC you idiot where has it ever been posted that the figure means "The number of "travelers" who drive through Kansas City"

And how do you even know that figure is correct dipstick? Saying someone who is flying along I-70 headed west isn't a visitor they are just passing through. Visiting is when you pull off the road and sit a spell, have a cold one and see some of the sights.

That must mean little ole Salina KS or Hays, Bonner Springs for that matter have just as many millions of visitors passing through them

  5. Dave just DESTROYED Go4KC.

Nice work. Saved me the time of doing it.

I drive east and west every week in my 18 wheeler along 70 and I don't like being labeled as a visitor to your shithole town. I try to hit this area at night so as to miss all the blight I see in the daylight along the interstate. One ugly ass town if you ask me from the highway. Go4KC is a joke and stupid to boot.

    ReplyDelete
  7. But still nobody here has provided evidence to refute that estimate.

    And nobody will.

  8. Go4kc for your enjoyment!

Hong Kong is the number one tourist attraction in the world with 26 million in 2017, guess what? Killa shitty didn’t make the top 100 list, go figure. New York comes in number 1 at 13.8 million and Miami in second in the USA only at 8 million. These are actual 2017 figures where a real live actual tourist was counted that spent at least 24 hrs or more in the city.

Killa shitty doesn’t even rank anywhere.

But we already knew that didn’t we!

Driving thru or stopping for gas or getting something to eat let alone people that work in town don’t count, this is why your mayors “fake tourist numbers” don’t count, your not getting that b.s. by anybody

  9. 5:12 nobody from shitty hall has provided numbers to prove it either.

    And nobody will.

  10. Hahahahaha. I knew it. I knew they had to counting freakin' cars. Oh my lord. This is of Trumpian proportions.

  11. Go4kc truly believes his own lies, sad, just sad

  12. Most drivers DON'T STOP IN TOWN. They stop in the middle of nowhere, and before they hit town, so they can get off the road, gas up, go to the bathroom, and back on the road QUICKLY. Stopping in a city slows down your drive. This is crazy logic.

  13. Go4KC stated: "So much hate here that I am considering stopping my posts."

    TKC just improved.

Why is a city employee spending time on TKC during work hours?
City Hall must be so boring and dull that is the only thing to do as opposed to "serious business".

  14. I know where Sara Huckabee Sanders is going to be working when Trump's out of the White House.

"Kansas City is the most popular destination, by counting cars in and around the metro, in the entire world for 2019!" (I can imagine this happening in the near future)

  15. This is what happens when pampered liberals are allowed to play grown ups.

    ReplyDelete
  16. And we made gazillions of dollars off these “tourists!” Enough to provide cheap water and have the best streets and sidewalks in the entire world! Bwahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  17. And let’s not forget about the world class sewer system we have too! Lmao!

    ReplyDelete
  18. If Hong Kong had 26 million visitors stay 24hrs or more just think they must’ve had close to a billion visitors if you count by city hall standards!

Killa shitty hall is so desperate for attention it’s pathetic.

Have some respect for yourself man, give us real and accurate numbers and maybe people would be more likely to believe you.

Maybe, but lying is you and sLIE’s trademark so that won’t happen. EVER.

I agree, Tony should come up with some real evidence. His credibility is at risk!

  20. Anyone remember when Dave destroyed the street car numbers a while back?????????????????????????
Maybe the Star needs to fire Hoopz and get the Super Dave doing stories about the backassward way this city is ran and the losers running it.

  21. The 11 million KCI number is a total including leaving so the inbound "visitor" number is half that. And then, you need to take out every arriving passenger who lives here so there goes at least another half.

The only way the numbers add up is to count commuters from out of town who trip the meter 5x a week.

  24. Give Chris a break. He was on TV. That didn't work out. He was at the Unicorn. That didn't work out. Now he's got a gig that's been working for a few years, so cut him some slack. He's got to play the game.

  25. He must be desperate for a job because it takes a desperate person to give up their integrity and morals to spread false information to innocent hardworking people knowing their struggling with skyrocketing bills just to survive in this town. To look these decent innocent people in the face and outright lie to them is criminal and heartbreaking.

All the while, sLIE is laughing at him and all of us, Chris, you’ve been played just like the rest of us. I hope the money you’ve made is worth your soul.

Promises, Promises just like everything else from city hall.
Spin off of the 1968 Broadway musical by same name.

Also stated: "But I will correct TKC on one facts that he stipulates."
How much is it costing the taxpayers for this type of scholarly writing?
    Facts?
I admit I am not a scholarly writer but I think the city can do better than this.

  27. Tony, I think they must be counting all of the Joco cars that drive into KCMO as "tourists".
So I'm a Costco tourist, a Unicorn Theatre tourist, a Tivoli theatre tourist and on Sunday mornings, a Cafe LaVie coffee salon at a private home "tourist. So 7 times a month, that's just me.

The only possible way they can justify thier fake news numbers.

Still have no idea about the trolley fake news numbers. I've never ridden it.
