Right now Kansas City counts 49 murders for 2018 so far. That's one more than last year at this time. In 2017, KCMO finished a horrific, crime-ridden year with 151 killings - A number which flirted with the all-time high of 153 set back in 1993.
Accordingly . . .
SUMMER 2018 VIOLENCE THREATENS TO PUSH KANSAS CITY TOWARD "HOMICIDE EPIDEMIC" NUMBERS!!!
- Already KCMO ranks as one of the deadliest towns in the nation according to recent FBI stats.
- Violence and murder is higher in KCMO than NYC -- Around 1,655 violent crimes per 100,000 residents
Even worse, as homicide rates decline around the nation and even in Chicago, the quotient of Kansas City killing remains on the upswing.
And here's where things get worse . . .
Given the rate of killing currently underway. Kansas City authorities, politicos and neighborhood leaders are predicting rising violence this Summer.
There isn't any new plan to curb the rate of local killing. Whilst the new KCPD Chief has improved morale, efficiency and neighborhood outreach for the KCPD. So far he hasn't made a dent in the quotient of killing and civic leaders aren't willing to hold him accountable for those numbers which many believe represent a broader scope of social problems beyond the control of this town's top cop. Local politicos would rather blame guns, poverty and Republican policy for crime which is more likely to garner support during election season.
Even more interestingly, talk of Kansas City drug gang wars is verboten among local media, authorities and most of the populace. It's just too scary to contemplate the international drug trade on local streets. KCPD is mad brave and dedicated to keeping the peace but cartels with connections across the globe simply have more resources and experience in their rough trade. The reality is that KC has always been a central distribution point for hard drugs for most of the modern era. Most of the traffic is coming from Mexico but insiders have already seen an uptick in high-priced heroin along with the rise of distribution networks for synthetic drugs from Eastern Europe, the Middle-East and Africa making their way to local streets. Go ahead and dismiss this trend as a conspiracy theory but look at the names in recent drug-ring busts from the U.S. Attorney's Office and they read like a virtual United Nations of dangerous criminals preying upon locals who can't think beyond old school neighborhood turf wars. While we can debate the merits of weed and the harmless silliness of pot smoking stoners, the reality that hard drugs like meth, all varieties of E, and classic coke bring violence with them.

Already this Memorial Day Weekend 2018 we've seen no less than half a dozen separate shootings and two murders.
Our blog community is doing its best to warn locals about the crisis of this trending topic before it's too late. Moreover, as we slouch toward election season, politicos begging for votes confronting a call for accountability amid rising deadly crime on local streets in mandatory.
Sadly, over the past few years ago these very same people have only spoken to the rising trend in local murder with forums, speeches, pizza parties, pithy quotes and ultimately . . . Empty promises.

There's widespread availability of guns thanks to them, less opportunity, fewer benefits and TKC doesn't mention that a lot of the crime is now up North among the whites who want drugs worse than any other group in Kansas City, the numbers of whites always in and out of rehab confirms that.

I'm sure the Afghans would be effective in calming the situation in the Inner City down, since our own Police Department and City Government have failed to do so, and I think we could rely on them to use the proper level of restraint while doing so.

The media could care less as well, notice how well they report what is really happening out on the streets? No crime and killings are here to stay because those appointed to office are not going to even try and do anything real about curbing any violence. Why do you ask and wonder? Strong arm policing tactics are disliked by the public as a whole and make for bad politics. Though James was ineligible to run for re-election (tax issues), a politically friendly judge allowed him to go forward.
An even smaller minority of KCMO voters re-elected James over a homeless man.
Sylvester James continued working on behalf of his donors and developers, and continued raising the tax burden on the poor and working-class.
Completely unnecessary and inefficient projects like the ToyTrain are given priority over basic infrastructure maintenance.
KCMO financed Burns and McDonnell's headquarters expansion and showered them with tax breaks and incentives after they donated heavily to Mayor James' campaign. This, even after the CEO had publicly promised they would remain at their south KC location.
When City Manager Schulte increasingly had to shuffle money around to cover budget shortfalls, he and the Mayor resorted to outright lies to hoodwink voters into passing the G.O. Bonds.
They lied again, and used public safety threats to con voters into perpetuating the ridiculous 1-percent earnings tax. A tax that no other city in the metro uses.
After getting reamed by Baltimore's Cordish on the Power and Light District (KCMO wastes 10-15 million annually, for years to come, covering the Cordish shortfall) James and Schulte unbelievably continue throwing millions more at Cordish for luxury highrise towers. Is it because Cordish always kicks back a few thousand for those that give them the breaks?
James, Schulte, and Justus were secretly colluding with Burns and McDonnell to hand them a no-bid billion-dollar airport terminal project. KCMO's largest ever infrastructure project was not going to be put up for bid if these criminals had their way.
In case you couldn't tell, crime in KCMO was remedied after Councilmember Justus chaired the Mayor's Task Force On Crime. Yes sir, she did such a good job, that she should be promoted to Mayor. Oh, and did she mention that she's a homosexual? That clinches it right there, right? You're not one of those gay-hating, misogynistic, Nazi-loving, white supremacist, MAGA, institutional racist are you?
How much do they say has been pored into the 18th and Vine money pit over the years? 100 million? Schulte can't seem to help the East-side neighborhoods with basic clean-up and beautification, but he can always find some off-budget funds to throw into the 18th and Vine pit.
Did you know that KCMO City Hall is in the grocery business? Like a mini version of 18th and Vine (see above) the city feels compelled to interfere with economic market forces and throw money into a project that is unsustainable from the beginning concept.
