TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR JEAN PETERS BAKER BLASTS EXECUTIVE FRANK WHITE ON JAIL CRISIS!!!

The war of words escalates among Jackson County elected leaders as the crisis over the fate of the Jackson County Jail worsens.

A Grand Jury report on the deplorable conditions at the County Jail started the latest battle.

Moments after the report was released, Executive Frank White claimed Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker was using a "political opportunity" against his administration and seeking to lock up more people pre-trial.

Behind the scenes and EXCLUSIVE on TKC right now . . .

JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR JEAN PETERS BAKER FIRES BACK IN A FIERCE E-MAIL BLAST TARGETING FRANK WHITE'S LEADERSHIP!!!

When talking to MSM, "Mean Jean" may sound very reasonable about finding a solution for the jail but the tone of this e-mail is much more raw.

Accordingly, the communiqué has been circulating far and wide but denizens of our blog community believe that the public needs to know what's happening behind the scenes:

From: Jean Peters Baker
Sent: Monday, May 14, 2018
Subject: Grand Jury Report
Good morning,

I wanted to address the report that has been issued by the Grand Jurors and a couple of misstatements. The report was authorized by the Presiding Judge and Criminal A Circuit Judge who oversee the grand jury. They agreed to the report, the scope of the report and to convene a second grand jury to continue the work. This is the work of the Grand Jurors who are citizens of this county and who spent many hours hearing testimony, reviewing subpoenaed material and writing this report. Please review it. I urge you to act on the recommendations that you believe would lead us to a better outcome.

The statements made by our County Executive were disappointing. It is no surprise that our jail is in crisis. Your own auditor reported on this crisis last summer, stating this was one of the worst facilities he had ever seen and recommending that a floor be closed immediately.

This report is a comprehensive look at why the jail is in crisis. The problems are more than deferred maintenance, though that is a serious issue, it is also a lack of leadership. The County Executive responded, in part, to the grand jury report this weekend, saying that I am seeking to incarcerate more individuals in a new and bigger facility. This is untrue. Such accusations distract from fixing our current jail and, even more troubling, promise to carry over into a new facility.

As stated by the Grand Jurors, "we challenge our county government to move past politics or elections. This is about the safety and financial viability of our county. We urge the Jail, County Administration and County Legislature to work cohesively without animus. We cannot afford inaction, miscommunication or finger pointing..."

I will continue to work with each of you, the next Sheriff, and the County Executive to improve the conditions of this facility.
Sincerely,

Jean Peters Baker
Prosecutor For Jackson County

And so . . .

What these words reveal is clear:

THERE'S A FULL SCALE BATTLE ROYALE BETWIXT THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE AND TEAM FRANK!!!

Courthouse insiders question:

"It looks like Executive White is trying to force her hand and undermining our local court system in a very irresponsible manner. I wouldn't be surprised if another move against him on this topic very soon."

  1. She did it the right way. It is good she is speaking out. Never seen an executive criticize the prosecutor's office in this way before, trying to start a racial issue over this is a really bad tactic and it makes him look like an opportunist when the real focus should be on working to fix the jail.

    1. So Frank is playing the Obama card now? WTF? Is he going to start granting pardons? What a mess, Jean looks like she is calmly trying to handle this, Frank's office is obviously playing politics.

    2. Tear the jail down and start over. Rebuild it outside of Downtown. There's just no place for it here any longer.

  2. Raise court costs and fines. Let the people who use the jail pay for it.

  3. She is being WAAAAAAAY too nice.

Frank is taking the side of criminals and trying to start a race war.

    Unacceptable.

  4. The coalition against Frank will not work for one simple reason, he will win his reelection soundly. The voters have spoken and they don't like all of this intrigue, They'll undoubtedly remember it when it comes election time.

  5. Agree with @6:10 as Slie does not want any blight inside the loop that will ruin his vision of KCMO paradise. Slie would rather have it in the north land right next to the new section 8 housing.

  9. @ 6:41 Frank White loses the longer he stays county exec. Sure, his celebrity will get him reelected, but it won't stop the feds or state from investigating his sorry ass. I'm betting he doesn't last 6 months into a second term.

  10. Frank White needs to post his resume for review.

  11. But Frank White helped the Royals win the World Series! Give him Carte blanche on what he wants to do!

    Its 1985 again baby!

  12. Frank White is quickly burning up his positive reputation the longer the is in the job. He is THAT BAD. people aren't totally stupid. They may remember him as a ball plyer, but get what a disaster he is as the exec. They may have loved him at second base, but wouldn't want him touching their business. People get that distinction with Frank.. He is VERY LUCKY to have no real opposition, but this is his last term under any circumstances. He is now a lame duck.

  13. No fan of Frank White here, but he is getting undeserved blame for the jail situation, which has been in absolute chaos for years before White ever got elected. It's terrible history goes back over 20 years, but it suddenly became a priority when an easy target took charge.

  14. Too bad Jean Petersucker Baker doesn't prosecute murders with the same aggressiveness she goes after Frank with. She is ultra easy on criminals and harder than a preachers dick on Frank.

  15. ^^Too bad you haven't worn out the sad "Jean Petersucker Baker" line yet. It, like you is played out.

  16. Petersucker

  17. The jail situation is exactly what Jean Petersucker Baker needs to divert attention from how worthless she is as the prosecutor for Jackson County. Jean Petersucker Baker has no desire to prosecute criminals and even less skill at doing so.

  18. this really makes her hot

  19. Hot!! As n commodity for the out of control criminals n KC..Frank has cataracts so severe he can claim blindness..Is there anyone n KC that can clean up this hot mess..Please help!

  20. Peters-Baker is the primary law enforcement official in the county, but she continues on unscathed despite the troubles swirling around her. Murder numbers up? State gun laws are the problem. Jail in shambles? Frank's fault. Sheriff's Department a train wreck? Surprised by her buddy Mike Sharp's actions. She continues to pass cases to the feds instead of doing her job. Hell, she even boasted about bringing Cy Vance to town, and crickets from the #MeToo movement.

It's time for the media in this town to quit giving her a free pass.
