How cities use data to widen resiliency
Cities coping with phenomena like climate change and cybersecurity, often forced to fend for themselves, are empowering themselves through data mining and other smart technologies.
If Slie is so intent on using data mining and other smart technologies to save Kansas City from rising crime and the flooding season the he must employ the same technologies in fixing KCMO infrastructure. Then again he would want to raise taxes to do use the technologies for a meaningful purpose.
ReplyDeleteThe city has some of the oldest computers and systems in the country, smart city my ass, try getting something done at the city and bring food and drink with you while you wait hours for the information to pull up and print, absolutely ridiculous getting anything in a reasonably timely manner. Ask sLIE how many IT people they have and how long it takes to get something fixed. So you know, it’s over two weeks to get something repaired.
ReplyDeleteThe city was supposed to be fully integrated and operational on an entire new system in 2015, it’s called Energov and guess what? They are still trying to get it up and running. 3 years later codes administration is finally getting started with it. The rest of the city will be on it next year. 4 years behind its original planned start and nearly out of date before its fully functional.
